ClickNewz! Internet Marketing Blog

Question For Readers Using IE…

May 15th, 2007 · 3 Comments ·

Since I switched to the WordPress Presscut Theme, I have noticed a sporadic problem when viewing ClickNewz through Internet Explorer (IE). Several readers have written in reporting the same problem on their end: some pages are cut off and wont scroll any further than the length of the sidebar on the right-hand side of the page.

Since more than half of the visitors that read ClickNewz via web browser are using IE, I’ve been searching high and low for a fix. No luck finding any mention of this anywhere, though I have noticed the issue on other blogs using the same theme.

I am trying a little fix that Teli suggested that involved a piece of code for the sidebar.php file. If you are using IE and noticed this problem, I need to know if you are still seeing cut off pages…

Since the problem doesnt show up consistently, its hard to tell whether the code worked as a fix or not. So far pages seem to be loading properly on my end in IE6. If you could let me know if you experience any viewing or scrolling problems on your end, that would be very helpful!

Best,

    Hey Lynn,
It looks as though the fix worked. Without getting into too many technical details, the cut off was happening because the footer wasn’t being properly cleared.

Adding the clear to the sidebar is like saying, anything below this spot needs to site below the longest column. So, regardless of whether the content or the side column is longer, the footer will sit below it and the content will no longer be cut off.

Hope that all makes sense and I’m glad to hear that it worked. :)

Although your site has always looked great using Firefox, I’m glad you got it fixed!
