Last week I was shopping on Amazon.com and had the option of adding a small item to my shopping cart to meet the free shipping minimum. Pay the shipping & handling fee’s, or add another item to my cart instead - duh, that’s a no-brainer!
I clicked over to the music CD’s and decided to check out Continuum by John Mayer. I love Gravity, but hadnt really heard anything else from him. What influenced my final buying decision? The option to listen to audio samples from each of the songs on the album. I was sold.
I decided to test this same method out on a sales page where I offer an audio product for sale at one of my sites…
If you dont already have an audio editing program, you can download Audacity which is a free audio editor & recorder. This will allow you to pluck selections out of an audio file and save them as a sample mp3.
Giving potential buyers the opportunity to sample the quality of an audio product should increase conversion rates dramatically. Of course, you wont know until you test it and track the results. I’m doing that now… and I’ll keep you posted on how the audio sample affects sales.
If you are an affiliate for the audio product you are promoting, you may want to create the sample audio and then get it approved by the merchant or affiliate manager before making it available.
Best,

I’ve actually thought about sharing bits of audio on a sales page before as well. Do keep us posted with your results

Great idea! I think it would definitely entice me to buy if I could have a taste of what I would be getting.
