Thread: Increasing traffic / beauty/health website

Default Increasing traffic / beauty/health website

    Hi guys,

    I started a beauty/health website in Oct.

It's really not doing as well as I know it could be - despite having my ad on other sites, utilizing SEO, etc.

I don't want to post the link right in here, but if anyone can give me advice with this, I will message you the link!

Welcome! Lynn has a lot of great info on how to get website traffic on her blog.

And definitely make sure you are on all social media channels.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi "rosebud"

Your site has only been live a few months, so I'm sure it still has plenty of potential!

What kind of "SEO" are you doing specifically? And what types of ads do you have - on what types of sites?

What else are you doing to market your website?

Happy to help! Feel free to share the link. I'd love to take a look.

Thanks Angie! I think I do need to focus more on my social media channels.

Thanks Lynn for your encourage ment Here is the website.

Right now, I just use the SEO by Yoast Wordpress plugin. I'm using Adsense and Lijit ads, but with low traffic, the Lijit ads make no difference for now.

I think I should probably be focusing on building my social media. A few weeks ago I had an image pinned by someone via Pinterest and my traffic skyrockted...but quickly came back down.

You want to focus more on building a readership, and building long-term assets, than on "increasing traffic" alone. As you've seen already, traffic can spike and disappear just as quick. A loyal reader base includes email subscribers and social media followers, which you build on consistently.

Obviously you do have to REACH your market first, for them to find your content and enjoy it enough to become a regular reader. ;-)

    ...

When I first land on your website, I have ZERO idea what it's about or why I should try to stick around and find out. The title tag in the browser bar is "the dumbbelle -" and there is no Title and Tagline in the header to give a clue what the site is about either. So that's step one! Make sure a new visitor knows what to expect at your site, and give them a compelling reason to check things out.

You'll find advertisements in the sidebar won't convert as well as in-content ads. You can remove those, and put Adsense inside your actual posts instead - only in the posts where you aren't promoting a specific product, that is.

Are you optimizing your posts for specific (long tail) keyword phrases? You mentioned Yoast. I don't use an SEO Plugin myself, but simply optimize my content for very specific phrases (micro topics) my market is searching for.

Also, how active are you on your social media channels, and which platforms are you using?

Hi I didnt see that reply

So far I've been working on optimizing my posts more and actually using a keyword tool (I wasnt using one before). I'm also working on my social media (fb/twitter). I'm working on 2 guest posts and I also need to move my adsense in-post like you said.

I'd like to try to make $800-1000 per month from this blog and give myself 3 months to reach that level. I dont know if thats realistic
