I'm trying to get my first WP blog up and running. I have published 2 posts but I cannot get my list of Categories to publish. I have the latest version of WP 2.8.4. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Only categories which have posts in them will display. The 2 posts you published - are they in the same category or two different categories? And are those categories displaying in the theme?

Thanks Lynn! That clears up a lot of confusion - I've wasted so much time trying to figure out how to get the categories to publish. No, the posts are not related to my categories per se - just sort of a general introduction, etc.

I went through the same thing when I first set up my blog so I know what you mean! The only categories that show are the ones that have posts in them. Which makes sense - you wouldn't want links up there going to blank pages!

That does make sense! I thought you were taking the weekend off? :)

Is it possible to delete the posts and page I have published on WP and start over? I messed up the order of publication and accidentally deleted the "About"' page. I have been waiting since last night for WP to send me a password for the forums so I can pose questions there.

Thanks again!

Sure - or you can change the order they display too I think.

I took off Saturday at lunch, and we just got back last night. Had a great time in the city with my daughter & her friend for her 13th bday :) Didn't you have a birthday this weekend too??

You can edit the published date and time on posts to reorder them. And when you write or edit pages there's a section in the right hand column where you can assign a number to put the pages in whatever order you choose.

Yes, my bday was 9/1. I'm so old I don't even remember my 13th bd! Enjoy your daughter while you can - I hope she does not have too much of a rebellious teen time.

Thank you again for all you do!

A late Happy Birthday to you then! :)

I'm hoping the same - lol. She's a great kid, and I feel fortunate to be able to be here for her during these years. I feel like the kids need me more now than when they were babies, which is the exact opposite of what I expected going into parenthood!

Linda, would you mind telling me where (and what it is called) to edit the date and time of posts as you mentioned above?

Thanks!

In your WordPress admin panel, where you publish posts, you can edit the already published posts or pages. When you edit, look at the far right of that screen (to the right of the composition screen). That is where you'll find the timestamp and the option to edit it.

Barbara, great questions that bring up good tips on wordpress. I'm updating some blog posts right now, so this is helpful. I also wanted to comment on Lynn's statement:

"I feel fortunate to be able to be here for her during these years. I feel like the kids need me more now than when they were babies"

My sentiments exactly, Lynn, my parenting plan was to make sure to be able to stay in the home business arena as Matt got older... It's come about that way, too, still evolving... Always honing the vision...

Best, Mary
