I was looking at putting paypal on a wordpress blog and found the simple shopping cart, but can't figure how to get it up on wordpress. It downloads to my desktop, but then I don't know how to get it to the directory the instructions say to put it on. I just hate not knowing how to do this stuff!!!!!!

Is Simple Shopping Cart a WordPress plugin Stephen? If so, then you need to install it into the plugin folder.

If it's not a plugin, then can you send me a link to it so I can have a look at the instructions, then I can better help you.

HI Traci! I got it from the plug in list on wordpress. Here's the link http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/wordpress-simple-paypal-shopping-cart-plugin-768

I don't know how to get to the plugin directory.

I feel your pain. I know that there are about 5 WP widgets for pay pal if you are looking for donations. They are also called "buttons" so if you do a google or WP forum search, do also try that word in addition to widget. You can find information in the wordpress forums or Codex (So help me, I can't understand a word of that stuff!).

However, if you are looking to sell something (NOT a donation), I found this for you:

http://coding.cglounge.com/2009/06/paypal-donation-wordpress-widget/

The second reference is actually a donation widget that you can install and edit the purpose from "donate" to something else.

AHH - I see we are all jumping all over each other here. No doubt Traci can help much more than I can.

Hope this helps.

LOL Yep, go to Plugins > Add New, then click the Upload link at the top of that page; then you can browse your computer to find the zip file of the plugin and click Install Now. That will unzip the file and install it into the plugin directory for you.

Then just click Activate, and then adjust any settings for the plugin that are needed.

Stephen,

I have used that plugin in the past and it works pretty good. It shouldn't be too hard for you to play with the settings and add your products or what not you are adding(at one point, I tried all of the ecommerce related plugins to find the easiest and best looking)

So, don't keep me in suspense!!! What did you settle on?

lol. I kind of liked e-shop the best. The hardest part for these were finding the templates specific to look like just a shop. If you are having a blog as well, then you don't need a special theme/template.. Just make sure the pages for products are visible.

Here is the link for more info and the download if you want to check it out.

Just a quick note too Stephen. If you only have a couple things to sell. I use https://www.click2sell.eu/ for one of my sites. It has an affiliate management system too if you want to get others selling for you. It is kind of like e-junkie if you have heard of that one, except there is no monthly listing price, they just take a couple dollars off of your sales. You get html buttons you add to your post or page where your product is and they deal with it all. You just get your cash. If your product is digital, you upload it to them and they send it to your customer.

I like it so far.

Great questions, Steve!

Easy peasy wp plugin for pay pal customers... I'm going to try that one!.

I really love how easy it is to install and upgrade now with Wordpress, both the new platform versions and plugins. (I have some plugins installed that I don't even know what they do yet, but they're so easy to install, and come recommended, that I keep them and will figure it out as I can.)

The learning curve is steep, but very fun when you hang around this group!;)

Steve, you WILL get the hang of this, and soon. Keep asking the questions and the answers are coming, yes?

Best, Mary

I will get this. Right now my feeble old mind is so full of SEO, Wordpress, HTML, PHP, bits and bytes that they are beginning to run out of my ears! I want to know when I will make a bazillion dollars and be able to lie on a quite beach and sip MaiTais! Nobody said I had to work!

If you read my blog, it's all lies!
