Hi! I am very new to all this. My website is almost up and running. I sell live parenting classes based on the book "How To Talk So Kids Will Listen" and also DVD's. I worked with a friend of mine to sell the class on her website and we were able to sell about 200 classes. I am looking to expand to other websites but I am not sure who to target and how to find good websites and blogs. I am also unsure on how to best approach the website or blog owners.
Any suggestions would be helpful.

Hi Adina:

I don't have any kids, but most of my friends and colleagues do. And so do most of their friends and colleagues. The point is nearly every website on the Internet is operated by and visited by people who have kids. That being said, if it were me, I'd probably focus on Twitter and other social networking sites, parenting sites and forums, WAHM type sites and forums, and similar sites and forums of that nature.

As far as approaching webmasters, I have found that just picking up the telephone and calling whenever possible, and explaining what you you do is very effective. Why? Because in this e-mail and texting world we live in, no one calls anymore.

Best of luck to you!

David Jackson

Thanks for that info. How do I get the webmasters telephone numbers?
Does anyone have any suggestions for websites that I should contact?

dig into the WAHM market (work at home moms).

BTW, I truly believe that book is one of the reasons my kids and I communicate well, to this day. I used those techniques daily when the kids were little - and they WORK so well. (and the kids remember)

Adina, many webmasters have their telephone number published in the "contact" portion of their sites. In addition, I gave you numerous suggestions in my last post about the types of websites to contact - including WAHM sites.

Welcome Adina :)

Will you be offering these bloggers & site/forum owners a cut of the sales made or do you prefer to purchase advertising from them directly?

Yes, if you have an affiliate program set up, I could start by advertising/promoting your classes on my site http://momsassistingmoms.info

There are some good family forums you could join. Or http://www.wahm.com/forum/ is a good forum to find affiliates or jv partners.

Here's a site that I know is looking for advertisers. It's a site for parents in San Antonio, TX. http://www.littledailyplanner.com

Thank you so much for all the information.
I am planning on giving a cut of the sales rather than buying advertising.
I would love to work with kdbiz and I am going to check out the other websites.
My website ran into some technical difficulties and will hopefully be up by the end of the week.

I just signed up on twitter, so thank you David.

I dont mean to sound dense, but I just type in parenting websites or parenting blogs or wahm in google, look for webmaster information and either call or shoot them an email about becoming an affiliate?

I wouldn't just invite them to become an affiliate, but rather offer them an opportunity to joint venture with you on the profit share. You'll want to keep it short and appealing, as those webmasters get tons of offers.

And check your private messages - sending you one ;)

If you are wanting to sell those DVDs as well, and have sales pages for those as well as your classes, you could always join a site like Click 2 Sell at http://www.click2sell.eu/ I have about 10 of my products on there. If you would like to learn more about it, this is a good review written about the service. http://www.imreportcard.com/services/click2sell It is much like Clickbank but free to get started.
You will then get to set up afilliate pages where you put the link on your sales page or give to people wherever. It is cool, you can add your banners, text ads, email ads and anything else you have(if you need help, I just started an affiliate management service). I am happy with it so far, even though I have only been on for about 1.5 months.

Just some more info for you to chew on. Just PM me when you are ready for me to sign up as an affiliate then.

A JV is a joint venture, where two parties do a profit share or other venture that benefits everyone involved.

How would you word a joint venture proposal rather than an affiliate proposal?
