WP Categories Info needed, please

Setting up my initial categories in WP. Can somebody give me a little tutorial on the differences and how to use Category Name, Category Slug and Category Parent as they relate to easy navigation and SEO (and anything else that I might not be considering?

Category Name is the title and anchor text of all category links.

Category Slug is the URL of the category.

For my Work at Home category on ClickNewz, the category name is Work at Home (http://www.clicknewz.com/category/work-at-home/) and the category slug is:

http://www.clicknewz.com/category/work-at-home/

A keyword phrase is good in both options.

The Category Parent is used if you are going to create sub-categories under your primary categories. So in the example of "work at home" as a Category Parent I might have sub-categories like: Organization, Time Management, WAHM, etc.

Keep in mind that once you create all of your categories, they won't automatically show up in your WordPress theme - in the sidebar navigation. Only categories that have posts in them will display for readers.

How do I best use these when I make a post:

Body Title
Meta Title
Meta Keywords
Meta Description

The post title becomes the meta title on a blog post. Include a keyword phrase as part of a compelling title (think copywriting - getting the visitor to click through and read the post).

The meta description is what displays in the search results (sometimes - as we discussed with Karon Thackston on last week's webinar (http://www.selfstartersweeklytips.com/webinars.htm)) and should also contain a leading description of the content intended to encourage the click through from the search results.

Meta Keywords - not really necessary. Include them for good measure if you like.
