I think we all use ClickBank.

I think... I wish they would switch to first cookie instead of last cookie for their affiliates. Otherwise they provide a very nice service for merchants & affiliates alike.

That said, I prefer to promote physical products than info products, in most niches.

Lynn - Why do you prefer physical products? If promoting physical products does the product company deal with customer support, complaints, shipping problems, etc. I would worry about stuff like that.

Of course - all affiliate programs work that way. You just drive the traffic through your affiliate link, the same as a hoplink.

Okay - you got me interested here. Ignorant newbie that I am, I thought that the last cookie ALWAYS got the sale. Are there some networks that keep it for the first affiliate click? Care to educate me, please?

They all work differently - some first cookie, some last - different lengths that they last, etc. It's an age old debate among affiliate marketers on which is better, but for ClickBank it would cut down on a lot of commission theft if they would swap it.

I do remember reading that you had to have sales from 5 DIFFERENT credit cards before they would send you any commissions. I forget how paypal fit into that - but it was clearly stated in the TOS. This can cause a delay in getting paid, I'm sure. . .

That's true, Jeanette. You must have sales from 5 different credit cards and that stipulation passed me by or I passed over it totally. When I had my first sales but no disbursement THEN I read rules again and noted that. Once you get beyond that hurdle things get better.

Now that I've got my feet wet in Affiliate Marketing, I'm leaning toward physical products and services myself but I think it's a little harder to get approval from some companies. Would you agree with this, Lynn?

Not always - you can find a lot of physical products in networks like CJ.com. Some of them do manual approval, others instant. But quality control is a good thing :)

I've found quite a few auto approvals on SAS too.

Agree with most of the comments stated, you definitely want to make sure you can move the products you choose to sell, because of the 5 sales and also if you don't make sales for a while and you have less than 5 sales, you will lose a percentage of your commissions every month you don't have any sales. Can't remember the exact scenario, so definitely read all the terms before you get started.

That said I love Clickbank and have made some good money there in the past. The thing I like most is that you can launch a campaign fairly quickly and the links are very easy to generate.

I have not created products to sell there, but I would like to in the future.

The one think I don't like that nobody mentioned is that you can't change your password, but that is probably more secure I guess. So unless you have remember passwords turned on in your browser it is difficult to remember the assigned passwords also makes it very difficult to access from community computers, like hotels and librarys, probably shouldn't be doing that anyway;)

They also hold back a percentage of commissions to cover refunds and pay it back to you a little at a time, The policy and procedure is clearly defined in the documentation.

They recently changed that - you can now change your password in "Accounting Settings"
