Need help with images into WP post

I'm trying to learn how to add images to a WP blog within a post. I can upload images that are on my harddrive or already in my c-panel into the media section using the insert image doohicky when I am adding a post, right? Most of my images will be thumbnail size, or maybe a little larger.

Okay, then. . .

1. If I want want the image in the upper left hand corner and then to have the text at the right of the image, then continue down below the image (wrapped?), how do I do that?

2. If I want several thumbnail images in a post, maybe three across the top of the post, then all the text below those images, how do I do that? I've tried to move the images within the edit post area, but they don't seem to move around.

I did download the plug in Affiliate Image Tracker, but I haven't messed with it, and I am not at all sure that it's going to allow me to move (or cut and paste) these images to exactly where I want them within a post.

Don't get too technical on me, please!!! I'm a html virgin. :)

Hi Jeanette

When you add an image you have the option of having it left-aligned, right-aligned, centered, or no alignment. Try the different options and see what works for you. Left-or right-aligned will allow the text to wrap around the picture.

If you want multiple images across the top of a post, then just add three images all next to each other - if the total width of the images is equal to or less than the width of your content area, then they will all show up on the same line. If not, one will wrap to the next line - then you can make your images smaller

It's trial and error - just play with it until it looks right.

(I'm not familiar with affiliate image tracker, but my sense is that it's more for naming and tagging images, and not so much for alignment. I could be wrong, though - that's purely a guess!

I am taking images from a vendor's website (I have been accepted into their affiliate program and there is no copyright issue) and saving them on my hard drive. Then I upload them to WP as media. How would I go about making them smaller? (or am I doing this incorrectly in the first place?)

Well you could use an image editor if you have one, but wordpress will also display images in different sized for you - it doesn't change the size of the file, but it will change the way it displays. When you're adding an image, you'll see a bar on the left of the image with percentages. Choose the percentage of size that you want (80%, 70%, etc.) and that will change the size of the image in your post.

Thanks again Lisa. Is uploading them from my hard drive okay? Or should I be using ftp like filezilla to get the images into my public.html on my cpanel and upload them to wp from there?

When you're adding an image to a post or page in wordpress, you'll need to choose the file and add it from there, not through FTP. Wordpress uploads it for you.
