Anyone who has been in IM for any period of time likely has had this situation occur by those who are not aware that asking for even a short period of time for someone to "take a look".

I am a firm believer in sharing lots of information, but I also know that there is a line that needs to be drawn.

Forums such as this are the perfect environment for sharing lots of information, but when it gets into "free consulting" outside of a forum, what is your take on this? Feel free to leave a comment on the blog.

Would love your comments on my blog posting at http://www.themarketingmindset.com/2009/09/why-most-internet-marketing-experts-will-tell-you-no.html

What a great post. I run into this issue as well - specifically with email - even though I offer a free forum for Q&A *and* a free weekly webinar. Not to mention open discussions on practically any topic at my blog.

It's a tough situation. There's no way I can reply to the number of "request" emails that come in every day, even if I am just directing them to the appropriate place to post their question...

Thanks Lynn. I actually read something from Jimmy D. Brown (who by the way has amazing information) and he was addressing the same concern.

Great post, Kathleen. I've retweeted it - most people who ask simply don't realize how many other people are asking for help too.

I have the same problem at times - I just recommend that they ask their questions in a public forum - most of the time their answer is already there to begin with!
