View Full Version : Removing Images?

Is it possible for a visitor to your site to completely remove an image from a post? I know you can "copy" an image from a site. But I had no idea you could "remove" an image from a site.

I ask because I made a post on my blog today, and the image has been removed from the post somehow.

I can see in my analytics that someone from California visited my site many times today, they especially spent a lot of time at the URL of the image, and now the image is nowhere to be found on my system. I went back into the post to replace the image and that file is not found.

How is this possible?
How do they do that?
Why would they do that?

Or am I just mistaken and I have done something else to misplace the image file?
Any ideas?

That's very strange. They would have to have access to your admin panel or your FTP account in order to do that. I would change both passwords, just to be on the safe side - and then search your hard drive to replace the image, or go to Google cache and save the image again from there to replace it.

It's hard to say what happened, but changing your passwords every month or so is usually a good idea regardless.

Thank you.
I have changed my password. I have no clue what happened. It seems very strange.
If I learn anything new, I will update this thread.

That is really strange. If you find out what happened, I'd definitely be curious to hear about it. You could possibly check with your host to see if your account was remotely accessed by someone else.
