So how come nobody told me about this plug in? Makes my life so much easier to have this in WP. Probably because I'm a MS Word person, but still - everyone who isn't familiar with WP or coding would find this very useful.

Not sure what you're talking about, what is "TinyMCE Plug in?" ;)

I believe she's talking about a plugin called tinymce-advanced. You can find it here:

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/tinymce-advanced/

There are several plugins that extend the default wordpress visual editor. I use wysi-wordpress 5 which can be found here:

http://mudbomb.com/archives/2005/02/02/wysiwyg-plugin-for-wordpress/

It requires more to set it up than does tinymce-advanced. If you're uncomfortable adding code to files I suggest you go with tinymce-advanced.

Interesting. I've seen other plugins that modify the entry interface, but I'll have to check that out. I really like Microsoft Windows Live Writer (http://windowslivewriter.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!D85741BB5E0BE8AA!1533.entry). It's free and provides a sort of mini-Office-like interface you can use with most any blog. It downloads the WP theme formatting so the page looks right. You don't even have to open your browser or login, either. You still have to log into the Dashboard for non-entry related chores, but I think it makes blogging a lot more pleasurable and quick. Image insertion is easier, too.

I did a little review (http://www.wordpressbusinessreview.com/blog-entry-editors-windows-live-writer/) of it awhile back.

Hey, Wade

I read your review. Sounds as if it still has some bugs. It's beta so I'll wait for a working version.

I installed Zoundry Raven only to find you need a blogger.com account to use it. I uninstalled because I don't need a blogger.com account for anything else.

That's odd, Rick. When I installed Zoundry Raven I just set it up to operate from my WordPress installation and Blogger wasn't involved. In fact, I just did a fresh install this morning to double check. Account setup on these programs can be a bit confusing the time.

My link to Windows Live Writer in that earlier post was to the old Beta page. WLW is in a finished release. You can find it at the Windows Live Essentials (http://download.live.com/) download page. Like Office and other Microsoft products, you have to download a suite of applications, but during setup you can check/uncheck which you want to actually install. I just installed Writer.
