Affiliate marketing is basically when an individual sells products or services for other companies in return for a commission from the sale. Affiliate marketing is an extremely competitive but lucrative field. Before you delve right into affiliate marketing however, there are some rules that one has to absolutely and positively follow to avoid getting scammed.
1. Do a background check on any company that you promote. You should especially research companies that don't have a long standing reputation or have been in business for a while. Also, periodically conduct an internet search for the companies name + complaints, companies name + "scam", companies name + payments, etc.
2. Do your homework. Understand the terms of the affiliate agreement. Read the entire contract to have a firm understanding of how much commission will be paid, any bonuses are awarded, how commissions are tracked, any payment thresholds, whether the companies offers promotional assistance, etc.

3. Stick with reputable firms. With companies that have a proven reputation for paying their affiliates

4. Stop promoting if problems occur. If there are any delinquent payments, stop promoting their products and find replacement products to promote.
5. Stick with one product at a time. Although it is tempting to promote more than one product with the same company, it isn't wise to do so.

In conclusion, affiliate marketing can be a great way to make money full time or to supplement and individuals that are interested should follow the above techniques. Simply take your time when choosing an affiliate company and follow the above tips and you could very well make $100,000+ too.
