I am going to start doing some podscast/interviews and I am wonder what to use. I know some of you do this sort of thing. Do you use land line phone or through the computer using Skype? What sort of programs do you use? Audio Acrobat or ***?

Let me know the best way you have found so I don't have to struggle! :D I'm all about finding the easiest way i can!!!

I have heard that people use "Pamela" for recording skype calls. A few of my interviews were done that way.
Good luck!
I am going to start soon too! Fun stuff!

Thanks Jen and domlin. I have been reading some very negative things about Skype and quality/reliability issues. I would really like to know if these are true or not!

Steve you'll get mixed messages on this. Kathy Baker and myself did all our interviews ( but 1) using skype and mercifully no probs. The 1 problem was when we used a teleseminar line.

For us skype and pamela are a dream team!

Whatever option you use there will be tech issues!!

But do it anyway!

Thanks Alex. It seems just in the last day or two I have heard so many horror stories about Skype. I really want the mobility of being able to do my podcasts and interviews online, not having to have "my" phone and be in "my" space. However, if Skype or other voIP systems have more problems than they are worth I guess I'll stick with old but reliable technology.

Steve just use what ever you are comfortable with.

There are horror stories about just about everything but we've not had any skype probs at all but we have had appalling probs with teleseminar services.

Other folks have the reverse experience

Hey Stephen,

I think I may have sent this to you, but I use Audio Acrobat. Here's how it works.

Skype is unreliable for me, but AA has worked well since I first got my account in 2005. Plus, the overage on my account is super cheap as I've grow and I don't have to deal with learning Amazon's SW3 or whatever it is. They handle everything.

The nice thing is that you're not locked into anything. You can try them all and see which YOU like best.

Yeah! That gives me a warm feeling all over. The only part is getting the right headset. Do I get phone or computer headset??

The computer headset with mic I bought was $25 with free shipping from amazon. I use it for all kinds of things. It's a Logitech.

I just crawl into bed with my puppies and my regular old phone for interviews. No headset.

We use Skype to record the @IMTW Podcast, and of course I use my wireless Plantronics Headset (http://www.clicknewz.com/2086/plantronics-headset-vs-logitech-headset/).

Thanks Lynn, I have been waiting after eating sushi (with bait on my breath) for your reply. I love IMTW and think the sounds is great. Have you even had many problems with it?

None. I don't do the recording - Paul & Ed handle that. But I do most of my interviews over Skype with my headset and they all seem to turn out well. That's how Mark Mason interviewed me for his MasonWorld.com podcast as well.

Thanks Lynn Watch for a sale on the headset!

I love my wireless headset!!!

Now that I've had a chance to use it more, I've found all kinds of benefits. Just last night I was listening to an audio online while I was in the kitchen loading the dishwasher, and then off to start another load of laundry.

I also do quite a few Skype conferences throughout the week and it's SO nice not to be stuck at my desk - or have to say "be right back" so I can go refill my coffee or whatever.

It's hard to explain, but when you're used to being "wired in" it really makes a huge difference to go wireless!
