FTC and affiliates

Listening to IMTW today, I now have a concern. The new FTC rules going into effect in a little over a week stipulate what a affiliate marketer can say as far as testimonials and so on. Now I am not worried for me.

I understand how this works for myself, but something was brought up that I wonder about. It was mentioned that if I have affiliates working to sell my products, I am liable for what they say or do even though I have no control over it and most likely will not even be aware of it.

I was actually thinking how to incorporate such a move in the near future. Now I am not so sure I want to do that. What do you experts think about this?

It's a good question, and as one with an affiliate program myself - a concern here too. I haven't heard much on the topic from other affiliate managers but I'm keeping my ear to the ground and watching how some of the larger networks & merchants handle it.
