What are your plans for your business in the New Year?

Something that is often overlooked in building a successful business is to have a vision, plan and expectations of what your business is capable of.

I have already begun to plan for the new year with dates of roll-outs, products I want to develop for affiliate programs, conferences I plan to attend, etc.

Something that helps me with my planning is a erasable wall calendar that I can use to vision my coming year.

Would love to hear what others are doing to create the best year ever in your business. If you are new to your online business, what are you revenue projections. With projections it is important to stretch, but be realistic. For example, going from zero revenues to a million in a month is not realistic.

I usually end up making up or revising my plan every 4 months out of the year. I have been a little slow in income this last year due to having a baby but I have projected that I will go from $500 a month to $2000 a month by the end of the year. This may not be a huge amount of money to some of you who are making that a week, but to me, this fits in with my schedules and family life.

I have found new clients and work for this year and have picked out a few more affiliate products to do some bum marketing to get some residual income coming in while I do my freelance work.

I have new software I am teaching myself how to do so I can start making videos, audios and such and get that marketing method working for me as well.

I have the confidence that I will be successful this coming year and start seeing an increase in both income and reputation.

Me thinks I need to go back and learn the basics. I've had to go back to work again this winter, and I'm not happy about it. My plan,, simply to go back to the beginning, and learn to do AM correctly, which means I'll be here a lot more, hopefully hitting more of the calls.

Now is a great time to start planning for the next year. Just remember that when you create your plans, they are active living documents -- not something you create and put on a shelf to collect dust. :)

Kathleen, I've been trying to formulate an answer to your question since you posted it. Thank you for the reminder of how important strategic business plans and goals can be to becoming profitable.

I found this much easier to do when it was somebody else's business, but with my own businesses (online and offline), I've struggled with the business plans and goal setting. I've never understood why, but suspect it has something to do with a "fear" about setting goals and not meeting them. If it's someone else's business, it's their "failure" not mine! (I use quotes around those words because I really dislike them.)
