Hello,

Is there anyone in this group who knows how to, or knows someone who can recover a lost blog. Here's what happened last night.

1. Changed Nameservers on Go Daddy from previous private hosting company for my blog:http://mysuccesscircleonline.com to the new Nameservers.

2. Made huge mistake and forgot to do a backup first.

3. When the changeover was completed my blog with one year's work had disappeared.

The previous company will help but they are hard to get a hold of...hence the switch, and this is a holiday weekend.I have both the old and new info. Please contact me through the Forum or directly at y-jones@comcast.net.

Thank you.

any backups at all? Maybe from last week so that you can retrieve 51 weeks of the last 52?

Unfortunately, my last full back-up was a month ago, but even that would be better than losing it all. I've put in my second call to the previous host but don't anticipate a response before Monday. Have a great weekend, Jeanette, and thanks for your concern:)

I wish I could help. Without the backups, I don't really know what to tell you. For future reference, there is a plugin that will do this automatically for you called wordpress database backup. Here's the link to the plugin http://ilfilosofo.com/blog/wp-db-backup/

Yvonne --

Not a fast way, but you can recover your posts using Google's cache. Just go to Google and enter site:mysuccesscircleonline.com in the search box. That will display all the pages that are indexed by Google. You can click on the cache option next to each post to recover the content of your posts.

Can you just change the nameservers back at GoDaddy to the old hosting company? Or have you already canceled that account?

I would be happy to help you out.

Thanks to everyone who showed such sincere and warm concern over my predicament. I appreciate every one of you!! Unfortunately it has not been resolved; however, I would like to say a HUGE "THANK YOU" to Chris Boaze, "cwboaze", who e-mailed and PM'd me then spent almost one hour trying to see what he could do to assist me. He has a truly giving heart and it was especially gracious that he took the time out of his Sunday afternoon when he could have been doing anything else. Thanks again, Chris, and I hope I will have the opportunity to return your kindness.

Denise, You are my SUPERSTAR this evening and I just learned something new. I can and will recreate my blog for the most part because I'd originally started it on Blogger then Typepad before WordPress. And for the most part I usually typed my posts in WordPad before posting (not always). What I will miss most are the links.
I've gone to Google several times since Saturday to my articles but understandably the links were broken. I did not click on "Cached." Guess what? I am so excited!!! I just followed your recommendation and there is a snapshot of my blog taken on December 17 with about 10 posts. Thank you, Denise. You're awesome! It's been an emotional "hurricane" weekend but I'll rebuild post by post. Lesson learned! Do regular backups. And...do backups before making any changes, like updating to the latest version. Have a great evening all :)

Last post on this. Thanks, Deanna, for the link to the Wordpress backup. That will be most useful to add to the new site :)

You're welcome Yvonne. I've been there myself with the blog headaches. I had to learn the hard way. I forgot about google caching old posts.

I wanted to let everyone know that my blog has been restored. Turns out that the company who hosted my blog previously was a 3rd party hosting service but I paid for them to contact the Host and they did whatever they needed to do and my blog is up and running again. Thanks again for your concern...but please learn from my experience...Do nothing to your blog without doing a back-up first. I heard or horror tales of people updating a version of WP and losing their blog (not sure if permanently). Do backup first!
