On one of my blogs, I never changed the permalink settings so it has been like this for a few years:

http://stefanipartin.com/?p=123

Can I change it without messing my blog up? I want it to show the blog title in the link as I have done with my other blogs using a custom setting.

I don't want to change it and have my blog go crazy.

It won't mess up your blog, but it will 'break' any backlinks you have to your current blog posts/pages.

You could -before you change the permalinks - setup 301 redirects in your .htaccess file to point all the old page locations to their new ones.

Another option, is to just leave the links broken and create a custom 404.php error page that directs folks to check out your site navigation to find what they're looking for - or even better direct them to a sitemap.

I believe there are some plugins that supposedly help with this. So that may be an option too.

Hmm, I don't think I have created any real backlinks to this blog. I started it out for fun. Now that it is a new year, I want to get this blog some more traffic.

Thanks for your input. I am going to change the structure and see what happens.

Use this wordpress plugin http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/permalinks-migration-plugin-for-wordpress/ It will allow you to migrate links/change structure with no probs.
