I uploaded several new themes to try out, and the first one didn't allow me to preview it. Well, that's happened before, but no biggie, just activate, and there it was.

Not so this time. Not only did it cause my blog to go blank, my dashboard is blank as well, so I can't change it back. Anyone have this problem before? What can I do?

HELP!!!

Can you log into your site via FTP? If so, delete those themes and try accessing it again.

Yes, try it iron things out from FTP. As a future precaution, you might do what I do: set up a free subsite and install WordPress on it. Use this site to test new themes and plugins.

BTW, what was the name of that theme?

The name of the them is Anvil. It's mostly black with a neon green space in the right hand corner. I'm in the process of deleting it now. Having trouble doing it though. Doesn't seem to want to be deleted!

I didn't back anything up yet, because there's really nothing to back up. I had no content on the site. Never expected this to happen. I can't even get to the login page. It's all blank.

In the error logs, there are a good many that say file does not exist.

I tried emptying the cache, nothing's different. Was thinking of re-uploading everything minus the new themes. Sigh . . . I'm so new at this, and I'm really messing it up big time!!!

I have never heard of a problem like this with WordPress, Anita. I appreciate your sharing this with us. I think if I had that much trouble and no blog entries to speak of, I'd just delete the entire WordPress install and start over fresh. Perhaps there was some sort of hostile code in it that ran amok. The only times I've ever had a site just go down and not have access was when there was a server problem on the host level. You might let them know about this. It could be that your host had some sort of safeguard kick in that may need to be reset or something.

Yes, I that's what I will do. I'll send them an email now, and delete the blog. Just is so strange that one second it was there, and then everything was gone, right down to the login page.

I will also set up a subdomain for a test blog.

Thanks for the responses. I appreciate it!

Yayee, it's working again. It was the Anvil theme that crashed it. Got rid of it!!

Back in business!!
