View Full Version : How do you get it all done?

Ok guys
I want to know how you get it all done. I know I'm new to this game. But so many of you have so much more going then me, (I think Lynn Terry must be cloned!) I want to hear from you how you keep all the areas in your lives going. How do you feel you get anything accomplished?
I have 2 blogs that I am writing for. Then I'm trying to write an ebook. Twitter, facebook. Hubby and I spend every weekend going over materials learning the techie side of things. And that is just the business side of things.
Then there is laundry, dishes, meals. Those are the bare necessities too. Believe me this house is not sparkling clean, far from it.
I feel like I'm drowning and I thought it would be getting easier but so far not seeing any evidence of that.
Help!

Hey Shawn - what on earth makes you think that anyone gets it all done?
I did the washing today and worked on the copy for a squeeze page and failed to get the thank you and confirmations pages done and so on....
Just plan ya best and forget the rest.
:-)
( I thin that might be my new motto!)

You know I tend to think the same thing every day. I just do it one step at a time and make sure to focus on that one thing. Not an easy task.
I'm sure others will comment and say that they outsource a LOT of their daily tasks to a virtual assistant, affiliate manager, housekeeper, etc. So it might be something for you and the hubby to consider :)

Same here. I work at it everyday and never seem to get done what I can. I dream of the day I can outsource!

I keep it all in a spreadsheet, all the tasks that I need to do for every website and check them off as i do them. Otherwise you just get paralyzed and cant remember what to do next, at least that happens to me. The list keeps me focused so I know what I have to do next.

I certainly never get it all done. Just one thing at a time.

Just like caneman, I keep a master "To-Do" list which gets everything added to it, and then break down into my 3-tasks a day challenge - I have to complete 3 things on my list that will move my online business forwards.
Some things I have outsourced before, but for this I want to be clear first hand at what needs to be done for each stage - it means I'll have a better idea of what I should expect from someone when I eventually outsource.
As has been said before...
Just focus on one thing at a time - even if your master list seems to be growing at a far quicker rate. You may well find times when you can spend great chunks of time, so you can catch up some then.
And don't forget to celebrate EACH time you cross a task off as completed! ;)
I even go through phases of getting up at 5am to get an hour in before my little boy wakes up and the usual day starts.
Hope this helps

Thanks everybody. Had a melt down there, went and wrote a couple of blogs, posted a couple of articles and even got to work on my ebook a little. Guess I should melt down more often. LOL
I appreciate everyones comments and I'm liking the master list idea!

I run and outsourcing company where we help others get it all done. ;)
Me personally: my husband is a huge help, my children know how to clean and we work together as a family to do what needs doing.
The rest is done by my having a prioritized to-do list.

Caffeine, and lots of it. ;)
Nah, just a to-do list to keep you moving from one task to the next smoothly without fumbling with what you have to do next. I've also find it helps if you can devote as much time (a whole day even) to one particular task instead of trying to do a little bit of each every day. That way you don't waste time switching from one thing to the next (for example, how much time does it take you to log into each blog? How about to open your file with your ebook? If you can post a week's worth of posts on Monday, you have more time the rest of the week to focus to other areas).
Good luck and don't worry so much!

Clearly defined and realistic to-do list, outsourcing, a well planned "to-don't" list and time away from the computer are the pieces that seem to work best for getting stuff done for me!

Help!
Chet Holmes, in a lovely book titled "The ULTIMATE Sales Machine", reveals the 'secret' to getting it all done.
He says mastery in marketing doesn't come from doing 800 things once - it comes from doing EIGHT things... one hundred times each!
That 'a-ha' message changed the way I worked.
The key then becomes identifying the IMPORTANT eight things. The rest is easy! :)
Hope this helps
All success

And therein lies the perfect answer to your question. Sure, I could add my own two cents. But why mess with prefection?

Dr. Mani is the guy in the know, for sure!
My new daily mantra: Decide and do.
Try no less than 3 and no more than five things a day to start.
To paraphrase George Harrison, tell yourself: I got my mind set on DO!

I love this! Fantastic advice! I need to work on following it.

I've learned that I had to make trade-offs. I had to let go of "lesser-important" goals or objectives so I can focus more time on my new great-big objective.

Great ideas, guys! I think having a "To-Do List" is the key to getting things done and maintaining your sanity. I believe Jez uses the same system Lynn usually recommends . . . create your "To-Do List" and smake it a habit of completing 3 task a day that will move you closer to your goal(s).
I think that's sound advice . . . now I'm going to go and use it!!!! ;)
