View Full Version : The New SSWT Forum

After 6+ years, I've decided to move the SSWT Forum and switch to the vBulletin platform. It offers users more features and more options, and is much easier to manage and maintain.

The original forum will remain intact as an archive, but will be read-only. Visitors will be notified to join us at this forum for active discussions. For members who are moving over, this means all of your content and all of your signature & profile links, will continue to work for you.

You can view the original forum at:
http://www.selfstartersweeklytips.com/forum/

You'll notice the categories and layout here at the new forum are much more condensed. I will create sub-forums as necessary to move dominant topics to a dedicated space.

Note: You will need to register here, and set up a new profile.

If you have feature suggestions, feedback, questions, etc - leave a reply below and let me know!

It's like moving into a new house, isn't it? Lots to do but you're excited about the new space and layout. You want to make sure everything is put away in the right place.

Or everything stays in boxes until you move again  (just kidding).

I think the forum's new home is fabulous and it is exciting to look forward to the new changes ahead :).

Good way to put it! Ironically I am redoing my house at the same time- haha. So when I'm away from the computer, I'm moving furniture around or shopping. :p

Love the cheery, bright, upbeat new feel to the place - goes with the lovely pic you selected of yourself - it's a whole 'site attitude' makeover. I'm loving it! :)

You've probably already figured this out before I wrote this, but just in case; "I" had to create a new acct. Technically, this is a "New" forum. That's what Lynn told me, so I did it and it worked.

I still used my old UN and PW, but had ti like "Re-Register", worked like a Charm! :)

Hi Lynn!

The new site looks great! Do you have a specific Tweet message you would like re-tweeted? If so, post it and I'll re-tweet.

You can actually Tweet This Thread or Tweet This Post on anything here at the forum. You should see the options at the top of each thread/post.

Here is the tweet I sent out yesterday that has had several retweets:

RT @lynnterry I am archiving my forum of 6+ years, with over 10,000 members and almost 100,000 posts. New forum: http://tinyurl.com/n6ads9

That sounds like one very cool feature.

Is clicking that little link really all it takes??

Yes, it will automatically tweet this:

"Viewing this at SSWT: link"

With the link to the post or thread your are viewing.

I posted this in the Welcome section, but I guess this is the place to post feedback, I hope.

I know this new forum must have taken a lot of work. Wise choice to not port all the old forum over and leave it as an archive. It would have been brutal to move it all.

The only thing I noticed that is worth mentioning is that there is an option to change themes at the bottom of the page. If you select default, all your navigation that you so nicely arranged at the top of the sswt, disappears. You may want to take that option away since you have the forum integrated into your website. I am sure it is a checkbox in setup somewhere to remove it.

I have been playing with Drupal and was able to integrate both phpbb and Simple Machines Forum. I chose to go with SM. But now I am dreading having to learn to run a forum, on top of everything else:mad:, so I know what it takes to get everything working and integrated so nicely.

Great Job

Pablo:)

I can't send a "private message" as the option does not appear per the FAQ.
