Just a heads up, July 1 2010 Verisign (the online domain registry company) plans to increase their fees on .com's by 7% and .net domains by 10%. Naturally, they will pass these increases onto domain name registrars like GoDaddy, Namecheap etc who, not surprisingly, will pass these charges onto us consumers.

Many registrars are allowing customers to to add a year onto their exisiting domains before the price increases go into effect so if you own a lot of domains, now might be the time to extend them and save some cash.

Consider that each time Verisign increases their fees, it puts something like $25 Million into their pockets, it might be a good time to invest in Verisign shares (that's not investment advice...I'm just sayin'...)

You're quite welcome Rick. I had a few domains up for renewal when I found out so I figured I'd share the info and hopefully save some people some money to buy more domains with ;-)

Also, I wouldn't rush out to buy domains JUST because the price is going up unless they are domains that you must have or are going to be working with right away. No need to own dead real estate either right?

Thanks for that heads up, I am sure business must be good in the domain industry with the explosion of internet marketers over the last few years. I think where they get you is with the initial registration and then stick it to you on the renrewal reg!

Saw this note and found another post at another forum with a great code for $.99 deal at GoDaddy. Use code "BUY2010". I used it last night.
