I just wanted to post up that if you follow the 5000 backlinks and do it religiously that it really works.... so cool! I revised my whole site with the keyword that I wanted to rank for and then I have been doing the backlinking for only like 2 weeks, 5 backlinks a day and my site is at #1 on google for the keyword!

This stuff really works! Thanks Lynn! :)

I've been using it too. How competitive was your keyword? I have been doing the same was hoping to see some more results by now. I've also found that only about 30% of the links are actually "do follow".

are you using a software or do it manually?

I am doing it manually, monotonous but worth it....

My keyword is pretty competitive ... I use the linkbuilding with other methods as well... such as blog posts on my own blog and other sites that I can advertise my products on with links to my site.

I also do a lot of social bookmarking again with the main keyword that I am ranking my site for and so far even for really competitive keywords it works.

I make sure that the content on my site on most all product pages and main pages has the keyword phrase in he meta tags, or meta keyword somewhere too.

That is great! I have not been great about doing the backlinking religiously! I am going to have to do it! Thanks for the update.

That's terrific!

I don't want to burst any bubbles, but I also thought I was #1, and then found out that I must log out of my Google account to get accurate SERP's, and saw that I'm more like #10 or 20, so I'm still building more links:)

Netcadet, they're talking about the 5000 Backlinks method/package from Lynn and Paul. You can read more about it at the site http://www.5000backlinks.com/ - Hope that helps.

I will have to put this on my list of must haves. Which I'm making up right now . . .

Just at the moment . . . sigh . . . it must wait . . .

Hmm...I wonder how this figures in if you're using Rank Checker by SEOBook. Do you guys think that, even using that, you still need to log out of Google?

Rank Checker works even if you're signed in to Google ;)

For those of you using 5000 Backlinks, I have a question. The most difficult part of it, for me, is finding a way to post to these sites in a "non-spammy way". Most of the sites have no connection whatsoever to the site I'm trying to build backlinks for.

I'd love to hear the approach you all are taking for getting your links into these forums, etc.

Thanks,
Doug

if that's the case, then you shouldn't post. A comment will most likely be deleted or not approved. You need to find sites where you can create value. Overall, I am finding that commenting on blogs found through Google reader is better than the 5000 links package.

90% of the blogs I comment on listed in the 5000 links pack seem to be no-follow. I have had success creating links using the site lists and creating profiles linking back to my sites.

And some of the PR8 and 9 you have to logged in to get 'somewhere'. But where do I put my backlinks to ex. http://www.mp3.com
this site ?

Thanks in advance. Kim

We're doing a complete update to the link package, so keep an eye out for that ;)

On blog comments - you don't want to limit your backlink strategy to just that. The key to effective link building is variation (http://www.clicknewz.com/2110/effective-link-building/). Definitely mix in some directories, article marketing, guest blog posts, forum signatures, etc.

On the nofollow/dofollow issue, Michelle MacPhearson did a test recently and got a brand new site indexed in Google with only nofollow links. A lot of people think the search engines don't follow nofollow links, but that's not the case. They are supposed to be used for not passing PageRank from page to page, but the search engines do still follow them.

See the Nofollow Attribute section in this Link Building 101 (http://www.clicknewz.com/2108/link-building-101/) post.

Hi Kim,

On MP3.com you sign up for a free mp3 account
http://www.mp3.com/signup

It gives you a personal profile and blog, comment and post to the boards, etc.

What if I have a my link on a forum signature, but the forum is closed from outsiders. The forum has a very high ranking, but do I still get my PR from that particularly forum. Or does it have to open to the public ?

softlan,
Usually those types of forums are set up to not be spidered by Google so if that is the case (like Lynn's elite group) then no your signatures would not count when posting in the private side of the forum.

You're welcome:)

As for the backlink, are you asking how to create a forum signature here on this forum using a keyword phrase that links to another website kind of like I have done in my signature?

If so, you'll need to go to the top of the forum, click on user cp and then click on edit signature link on the left. You can then use html code to build your signature or I think you can also use the Insert Link at the top of the signature box.

Let me know what you need and I'll try to help further!

Is it best to backlink direct to my site or is it best to backlink to some of my articles/various other sites on my website ?

Definitely best to link to different pages or articles on your site rather than to your home page if you can.

I hope it's OK to join in the conversation here to ask a question. I have been doing the 5000backlinks but decided to make it a little easier by adding the plug-in that it suggests(Launch clipboard 1.7.) and it will not let me add it.
When I try to download it a pop-up comes up and tells me I need to be using the Firefox Browser which I am. I even uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it.Any help will be appreciated.

That's definitely odd, Gail - you might have to look at some Firefox forums or help sections for that, if there is not someone who knows it here. Do you have any other Firefox Addons installed?

gailjrichardson
March 16th, 2010, 07:53 PM
LisaMarieMary, I thought it to be odd to and no I don't have any more Firefox Addons so I have been just doing this manually but I can see where it would be a lot quicker with this Addons. I will check out the forum . Thanks for suggestion that.

Hmm...went digging around trying to find some reference to your problem and really haven't come up with much.

Since you haven't installed any other plug ins, wanted to show you these two tutorials I found, covering how to install plug ins, in case you're missing a step:
http://www.accessfirefox.org/Addons_Installation_Guide.php
and
http://www.timeatlas.com/5_Minute_Tips/General/How_to_Find_and_Install_Firefox_Extensions

Here is the Mozilla add ons forum: https://forums.addons.mozilla.org/index.php
I tried searching there, but, maybe I'm just not using the right wording.

The plug in was not listed on this problematic extensions page: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Problematic_extensions so I don't think it's the plug in, but, that did lead me to this page, which might help: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox

Another thing I thought of, too - is you might just try installing some other plug in, to see if it works.

I hope I've been somewhat helpful :o

How exactly are you guys using your keywords

lisamariemary
March 17th, 2010, 11:32 AM
A lot of what I've been doing has been blog commenting - so if they don't have KeywordLuv I don't use keywords.

gailjrichardson
March 17th, 2010, 01:15 PM
Thanks Lisemariemary, I thought I was missing something as how to use the keywords.

Step 1: Pick 3 specific pages on one of your sites.Copy the URLs of those pages into a text program. Below each URL, put the keyword phrase associated with each of your pages.
I was unclear as what to do with the keywords I picked out.

Thanks for the above information on Firefox I still haven't got it working yet but I think the answer should be there . I just have to find it. I am not very techie.

angienewton
March 17th, 2010, 02:40 PM
Gail,
You'll use those keyword phrases to link back to those specific pages as anchor text (like in my signature line). So if you are on a forum like this one (although not your niche but for explanation purposes ha ha), you would set up a signature in the User CP and put as the text Cheap Home Decorating Ideas and link those words to your main website. That is just an example!

Does that help?

Thanks Angie,Can you do this anywhere or just where they have The Comment Luv plugin.
User CP?

angienewton
March 17th, 2010, 10:55 PM
Gail,
I was talking about forums not blogs. Sorry to confuse ya! Comment Luv plug in is for blogs.

The User CP is where you go on this forum to change things like your signature (it's at the top of the forum next to FAQ, Community, etc.
