First off, I want to let you all know that my site is ready for viewing, so check it out!! www.organichealthcures.com. it isn't perfect yet and has some flaws but you can at least see it.
Question 1. What is a spin forum? I am reading Jon Legers e mails where he is talking all about this in reference to blogging.... I don't understand it and do I need to know it?
question 2. He is also mentioning "Blogbuilder" for networking your blogs... i have wordpress and am starting to network on varios sites like twitter and facebook......so do I need this blogbuilder?
Thank you anyone who answers me,
Paula Bentz:p

1. Never heard of a spin forum.
2. If you only have one blog, I don't see a need for a tool that would link blogs together, which is what blog builder seems to be.
If you just have this one site with one blog, wordpress is all you need for now.
Your site looks OK. I am not crazy about the picture at the top.
I think it should fit within the border of the Header. If you could cut off the top and bottom and move it all the way to the right I think it would look more like part of the header.
If you don't have any events to post you can get rid of the calendar. You can always put it back later.
Hope that helps

Maybe you mean 'spinning'? If I'm not mistaken it's when you are trying to rewrite an article. But I'm not sure.

Sandy,
Yes, i think it is "spinning"....... do I need it? Does it help promote my site or something?
Pablo,
Thank you very much for your guidance, I will remove the calendar, but I can't change the picture size, it is a wordpress theme and that was the size it came with.
I know I can change the theme, but honestly, there are so many to choose from that I get overwhelmed, especially since I only knew how to open e-mail 2 months ago...LOL... It took me two months to get my site this way....No, I can't hire anyone, I just lost my day job and discovered we're pregnant again, so this is something I have to do myself ( With all the friendly advice I can get;) ).
I'm glad I don't need that blogbuilder, I guess my focus now is content and promoting right?
Thank you both for your guidance,
Paula

Paula:
First congratulations on the pregnancy:)
You could try for a reality show. My lord 6 kids and one on the way. God Bless you. My only child is 17 and I can't imagine 7...
Anyway I would be glad to help you with the theme stuff. I haven't messed with Wordpress for a while, but I have to get back into it since I am promoting the "Socrates" theme as a product. I would recommend that one since it is easy, but it is not free.
As far as article spinning goes, it is helpful to have software to do this but you can do it manually too. It just means you change certain words and sentences for every service or place you submit your article to so you don't have duplicate content (for which you get penalized in page rank) with all the same content in a bunch of different places.
Or you can just "Spin" the version you have on your site(s) and then you will never be penalized for duplicate content.
I Don't think you need to change the theme, if you like it. I was just giving my opinion. Yes, working on promoting it and getting it out there is what you should be doing. I love your niche BTW. I am a big supporter of organic cures, though I am on a bunch of traditional meds at the current time. Once I drop the weight I need I will try to get off some of them.
I will be checking out your site for ideas.
Hope that helps

I have to respectfully disagree with Pablo about spinning and duplicate content. You can post the same content to multiple sites. That means you can post an article to your blog, then post that same article to article directories. Duplicate content only comes into play within a domain, so you don't want to post the same content multiple times on your own site, but on other sites is fine. Lynn has a post about duplicate content (with video from Google) that explains it here: http://www.clicknewz.com/2078/duplicate-web-content-google-penalty-myth/
And as far as spinning goes...if you must, then do it manually. Automatic spinners just make a mess of your content. If you're really concerned about posting the same article in multiple places, rewrite it yourself, but honestly, I wouldn't worry about it.

Dear Paula,
Congrats on #7!
When you get more comfortable with Wordpress, you may be able to change the dimensions depending on what theme you use. There does seem to be a problem with your header, though. I compared it to the "Amazing Grace" theme preview and your "RSS," "Home", and "My Healthy Child" buttons, are off-set. There are many helpful people on the forum that may have had a similar problem and could help. I'd suggest posting a new thread just about that issue.
With regard to the "spin forum" I'm wondering if he was referring to the forum on his website. I googled, "Spin forum Jon Legers" and after reading some, I think that might be what he means. (Just a guess...)
Peace,
Roey.

Dear Paula,
I think I found info on the forum question. Check out http://jlforums.com/ and under the group titled, "Content Creation" check out the forum titled, "The Best Spinner."
Hope that is what you are looking for.
Peace,
Roey.
PS - you will need to create a log-in account to get there.

Cindy:
Thanks for shedding more light on the spinning subject. I have read a lot of different information on duplicate content, including the idea that there is NO penalty for duplicate content, and that there are penalties if you have duplicate content that exists in a hundred other places on the internet. I have never worried that much about it since I don't have that many articles out there, but that said I have "spun" some of my articles on an article sharing site and It's almost as much work as just re-writing the article manually.
I will go and read the info you posted, thanks.
Always ready to learn or re-learn :)
Hope all is well with you Cindy.

Pablo,
LOL....you made me laugh... yeah, my life can be on a reality show:eek: But honestly it's not that bad, actually, 4 kids are grown and gone. 25 yr girl in NY, 21 yr boy in Marines in GA, 20 yr girl in AR, and 18 yr girl in Marines in NC. only 2 youngun's 14 and 12 yr girls. So this baby will be a loner, unless I have twins:eek: My hubby is getting clipped before I am due LOL!!!
Check out my "Meet Peter and Paula" page, you will see that my husband had/has many health issues and was on 74 prescription drugs a day!! He was over weight, losing hair, turning gray and a zombie.......The drugs were killing him, not curing him. He is now on NO drugs, with a full head of blond hair ( in his mid 40's) and skinny... 165lbs at 6 "1". I wish I had more content for you to look out, now, but check out my " Who is Monsanto" article, there is a lot of info in it.
I am having a few problems with my site, and like Roey said, I should post another thread question.
Cindy,
Great stuff, I am going to check out that link, Thank you....
Roey,
yes, the header is off, when I put a "buddypress" on the site, it shifted everything down.... I don't know how to fix it, so figured it doesn't look that bad.
But I am having a real problem with permalink......My top page links " meet, P&P," and "who is Monsanto" work fine, but as I post a blog, it only allows one permalink, so, say I write about Monsanto, and another on Diabetes, they both have the same link.......
Then, My category links... i.e." in the news"... don't work because they all say.. Organichealthcure.comcategory/inthenews.... there is no slash after "com" com/category.......and there is no way to change it, I've been looking for three days.............UUUGGGHHH!!! anyway, like Cindy said, I need to post another ???????
Hey, thanks all, talking with you all is very helpful, I put off doing this because I was learning so much, I just didn't feel ready, but I see I might have moved faster by staying in touch.

I thought I saw that you fixed your permalink issue in another post. Is that correct or do you still need help with that ?

Yes, Roey helped. It fixed everything.... Thanks, but do you know if I can place my adds on certain pages and not others. Meaning, I don't want my adds on my home page and the "Recommended products" page. Apparently, I try put an add in, and it defaults to every page......Little my little I gues:o

Paula:
I was getting ready to tell you how to remove the sidebar from selected pages, but when looking at the latest version, The page template is not available. I will have to do a bit more checking. It is probably easier than the way I used to do it. If you want to investigate it for yourself you can go to wordpress.org and search through the documentation and even register for their free forum if you like.
I will check it out, since I am curious now, and get back to you unless somebody beats me to it

Okay:
Here is what I found out so far, apparantly my theme has no page.php or standard template, but yours may, even in new versions. When editing the page it is only available in "quick edit" mode. (in version 2.92)
You may need to switch to the default theme and then back to your theme to get it to show up.
So here are the general steps.
1.Open Page.php file using a text editor like notepad or from wordpress editor. Make sure you make a backup first. If you go log in to wordpress and go to Appearance then to Editor, you should see page.php on the right. Click on it. Now select all the text and right click and copy(or Ctrl+C) Then open notepad from accessories from all programs (Windows xp or greater) Then right click and Paste (or Ctrl+V). Now Click on File|Save As and give it a name like originalpagetemplate.txt and save it. You now have a backup in case anything goes wrong while editing.
2.With notepad still open find the code that says <?php get_sidebar(); ?> and remove it. If you have two sidebars you will need to remove both of the entries that call the sidebar. I think it is sidebar and sidebar1.
3. Edit the top of the file Where it has code that looks like
/**
* @package WordPress
* @subpackage Default_Theme
*/
And replace it with something like this
/*
Template Name: NoSidebar
*/
4. Click on File |Save As and save this as NoSideBar.php or something similar that is descriptive.
5. Upload this file to your /wp-content/themes/yourtheme/ Using FTP or Cpanel File manager. However you got your theme uploaded. There may be a way to do this right from wordpress, but I'm not sure. Anyway the goal is to get the new template file into your theme's folder.
6. Once that is done you can log in to Wordpress and got to the pages that you want to not show a sidebar and select quick edit and select the nosidebar.php template as the page template for that page from the pull down menu. And you can leave the other pages alone.
With a two column theme like yours you may be able to put all the ads in one sidebar and leave the other one for widgets. I have not tried this but it should work. You would just delete only one of the getsidebar functions in step 2.
Note: You also have a copy of the original page.php file in your zipped up theme file.
I know your new to this stuff, but it really gets easier the more you do it, and this one is pretty safe to try since you can always put your original page.php file back if anything unexpected happens.
Here is a link from wordpress.org with some more info that may help you understand. http://codex.wordpress.org/Pages#Page_Templates
Have Fun:)

Hhhhhmmmm....... looks difficult and easy at the same time...LOL. Well, I'll giveit a try........ I contacted the maker of Amazing Grace and he said we would have to rewrite the whole HTML in order to do it. But maybe this is rewriting it... technically...IDK. I will give it a shot, if it doesn't work, I shrunk the e-mail sign up link and will move it to the left where the adds are and pt the adds in the far right column, so at least it is away from my articles.
Thanks a lot, Pablo, it is great to meet people, make friends and get help. I am so very glad for all you generous people.

Also, its important to emphasize Pablo's instruction to copy into a "text editor." Be sure it is a text editor like Notepad and NOT a word processing program like MSWord. This is because you want to keep all of your code characters true; Word will convert some stuff and then when you try and paste it back into your Wordpress Editor it won't be identical to what you had saved and will result in lots of tears and possibly a chocolate binge!

will do.......Yes, I recently learned how MS word changes HTML in a recent blog.
