I read a theory report about the correlation between SERP ranking and Google's allinanchor: ranking while searching for highly popular and competitive keyword phrase. It mentioned that the anchor text doesn’t play a major role in ranking. Is that true? If yes, then what is the reason behind this? It stated that the website that has good ranking is not necessarily good in link building campaign. If this is factual, then what is significant when it comes to improving ranking? Can I avoid anchor text completely? However, I personally thought that on-site SEO is highly effective and easy to measure. I am very confused. Help me.
