I was trying to find the first forum I ever signed up for and came across this place in the search. I believe yours was the second one and kara dawn's was the third and Mike's was fourth or so.

yep, It was a marketing forum run by a guy that turned out to be a crook.
he is still operating different scams out there but the site is no longer a forum, just a sales page for one of his plans.

Those first couple of forums is how I got interested in phpbb and I have been involved with phpbb ever since.
