I just joined the forum and have a question. I already sent this question to some of the people I met at the NAMS4 conference and got some great responses but somebody suggested I use this forum so here I am.

The question is:I'm using BIT.LY for a client and I just noticed the following message in an email I received from the TweetAdder Affiliate Manager:

"Suggestions:
You can use http://cli.gs/ to shorten your affiliate url in your tweets.

DO NOT USE BIT.LY to direct to us, they will put a warning message on your clicks, and greatly reduce your success."

I did searches on Google and found http://techcrunch.com/2009/07/16/bitly-starts-starts-warning-of-malicious-sites/#disqus_thread . It's kind of non-conclusive as to whether BIT.LY is going to adversely affect making online conversions. because of the warning messages.

I didn't find anything else out in Google on this.

Has anybody heard anything about this or can you refer me to somebody that might know something.

I don't want to use it for my client if it might reduce the number of sales I help them make.

Personally, I would take their advice. The warning may be enough to scare off a few of your potential customers, depending on the market. There are plenty of other free shorteners.
