Basic Domain Registration Question

Hi. I know this is super silly, but when I began to register my domain on GoDaddy I was offered a zillion options. Should I take any of them (ie register similar domain names, upgrade to Private or Business, get an email address to match, etc)? I'm not sure what's important and what isn't. Thanks so much for your help.

Hi Linda,

I ignore all the "upsells" and just register my domain. I never use hosting or email from my registrar. I use a separate host. Here are the steps I go through when setting up a domain, hosting, and setting up a blog on the domain:

The first 3 steps should prove helpful no matter what you are putting on the domain.
