Has anyone taken any courses with TechBasedTraining or joined as a Pro there?

I am considering joining, just wondered if anyone could tell me about it before I do.

Thanks!

Anita

I have not joined or taken any courses but this is Lynnette's site and she is plain AWESOME! Always has great stuff to offer so I'm sure this will be too. Let us know how it goes.

I will, Angie. I'm going to go first for the Blog themes course. Then The CSS. After that, I'm not sure, but I imagine I'll go ahead and take them all.

Looking forward to it!

Hi Jen,

I've only just started on the Blog Themes, and have big dreams of making a decent living creating dream themes for others. I can't wait to be further along. On lesson three today. PHP....

Till now I had considered myself a bit of a web designer. Now I get to say I'm aspiring to web dev. A little intimidating, but very exciting!

Probably the first "dream" themes will be for my sites. So I can use them as part of my portforlio. Okay, off to study! Thanks so much for responding!

Hi Anita,

If you are looking for training for PHP or CSS, I recommend using W3Schools which is free. I have not used TechBasedTraining but I glanced at the site before submitting this post and I think you should go the free route first and see how you feel before spending $100+ on a course.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Christopher,

I will definitely check that out more closely. I've book marked the page. Just got our of the hospital, so I haven't been able to do anything anywhere, free or paid. Lol.

Hope you have a great weekend!
Anita

You get all that info (most of it anyway) if you search on Google. $98.00 for a course?

Here's an interesting video done at TED.

It shows what is possible with technology and teaching.

Wow, that is pretty awesome! Thanks for that.

I didn't pay $98 for the course. Had a great discount, so I went for it. And, while I might be able to Google some things for free, most of the time you get what you pay for. I can get free WP themes, but I haven't found one yet that is really what I'm looking for for any of my sites. I'm making do until I can learn to create my own. And, of course, I'd like to be able to make some money doing it.

Really, if we can find whatever we need for free by Googling it, what are we doing paying for memberships on any site? We are because the owners of the sites know what they are doing, and we trust that we are going to be getting something of value. Networking with members pays off.

We're all either selling a service or product of some kind to try making a living. Or hoping to be in the near future. I'm still in that hoping stage as I slowly and steadily learn how to do it.

Illness is really a hold up for me the past few months. Haven't been able to be at the PC as much as I'd've like to've been. Bills are piling up and my husband is making me crazy, wanting something to work within the next five minutes. But, anyway, I guess I'll find out how the course will be as I get deeper into it.

Heading for bed now. Good night All!

Good luck Anita, competitive space but all the good theme's stick and go viral... people want a piece of good design ALWAYS. Plus, there are loads of sites to load your designs onto.

Very true Hubber! I was also thinking of setting up my own storefront type site to sell them from. We'll see how it goes.

Are we choking on the idea of paying $100 to learn a valuable skill? I sure hope not! I know this course very well (I am Lynette's business partner on many projects) and know for a fact that many have turned those skills into income.

There is a lot of free advice and learning out there, but how much of it is step by step and precept upon precept, presented by someone who knows what you need to learn and when? You are the smart cookie here. You'll be turning your new skills into profits while the others are still poking about trying to figure things out from free resources.

I break into cold sweat when I imagine trying to learn from free sources what I learned from Lynette's course. And you can use what you learn in many other ways besides designing themes for sale.

Time is money too!

Usually the free stuff just makes me want more than free can offer. Generally, no one gives valuable info away for free. And I'm very happy with the course. As I say, I took advantage of a sale opportunity, but I would have paid full price. I would consider, and am considering, other courses Lynnette offers.

Unfortunately, I haven't progressed far in this one as I've been in the hospital more than out of it this year . . . as last. I've resolved to buckle down to it while I'm feeling fairly healthy at the moment.

Appreciate all your support!!

i recently purchased the aMember course and was completely happy with it. And I did search for a while for something free to get me going. I had no luck but was very pleased with what I did spend my money on.
