I have been writing quite a number of articles and posting videos on You Tube but I have been generating very little traffic as a result. My niche is affiliate internet marketing and I am just wondering if anyone has a view on this?

Those are two great ways to generate traffic especially You Tube. You want to make sure that you are optimizing both articles and videos for traffic though.
Here is a great post from Lynn about generating traffic:
Increase Traffic To Your Site Free (http://www.clicknewz.com/2596/increase-traffic-to-your-site-free/)
Your niche is a very tough one so you need to some way stand out from the crowd with what you have to offer.

Hi Murph,
Yes, as Angie mentioned, you are competing in one of the toughest niches. If you're not getting any traffic, you're probably not an expert, who is competing against lots of people who are.
Of course there's are lots of experienced people in any niche, but they usually won't be experienced at marketing specifically, but in their topic area.
Don't want to discourage you, but you may want to also explore some other topic where you can be a "big fish in a small pond", if you aren't doing that already.
All that said, would you like to share a link to your videos and articles? Maybe someone here will have useful suggestions.
Good luck!
Phil

Thanks, Phil, for your response. I am concerned that the niche I am in is as competitive and I am reviewing that. This is a link to my You Tube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/480woodlands?feature=mhum. This is a link to an article just published in Eziine Articles http://ezinearticles.com/?7-More-Tips-If-You-Want-to-Make-Money-at-Home-Online&id=6136282. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks again, Phil

I'm not in the make money online niche for the reason that I'm not earning my living full time online. In fact, I have no plans to enter that niche even when I do reach six figure income because it's too competitive and saturated. I may target it from a very sub-niche angle, but I'm not sure.
I would have a hard time being in the make money online niche unless I had massive success such as a six figure income. That's just me.
I would go for a different niche ... and once you have success in actually making money online, then enter that market if you don't mind massive competition.
With respect to your EzineArticle, it's well-written, but there's no concrete tips for actually making money online.
If you make a lot of money online, then write articles setting out the concrete steps you took to make a lot of money online. Is it article marketing? Is it blogging? If so, how do you monetize? How do you generate traffic? How do you find keywords? What converts? What type of products do you promote? How do you get advertisers to advertise on your site?
These are the questions (plus many more - not intended to be an exhaustive list) that aspiring internet marketers want answers to. These types of articles also demonstrate you know exactly what you're doing based on actual results. This will establish you as an authority.
The devil is in the details. I get the best feedback and sales from articles that are detailed and chalk full of information. These articles take a while to write, but they generate by far the best results. When I learn more about an article I've published on my blog, I go back and add updates.

Hi Murph,
Top marks on creating all those video's & article's. In my personal opinion Internet Marketing in an of itself is not a niche, but a category. Even some of the so called internet marketing guru's don't focus on the Internet Marketing category as a whole, they focus on a niche in the Internet Marketing Category, for example Jeff Johnson focuses on generating free traffic, Mike Dillard how to attract people to you.
From your Youtube vid's & article's, it's kind of unclear where your focus is on, is it affiliate marketing, making money online?
However the main issue is that you are hardly getting any traffic to your YouTube video's, recommendation would be effective keyword research, choosing keywords have reasonable decent searches and there isn't high number of competing websites.
But then again you know all of this stuff, judging your website postings.

That's really interesting. Since that change what are the things that make a difference, if it is not article marketing?

After google algorithm change, article marketing becomes less important for search engine marketing. The current google algorithm change the whole article marketing thing as it drop importance of major article submission sites, like ezine, about and other article management sites.
addyj672, I respectfully disagree. In fact, the traffic from my EZA articles increased since the Google Panda update. More importantly, my syndication rate increased dramatically.
My aim with article marketing is syndication. I want other webmasters to publish my work. This is an effortless method for backlinks and readers.
Immediately after the Google update, I slowed my article marketing to see how my stats would play out. It turned out I still received decent traffic from my EZA articles, but better yet my syndication rates increased a lot.
In fact, now that webmasters know that EZA is accepting only higher quality articles, I suspect more webmasters are going to EZA looking for articles because it's easier to find quality. This is fantastic for article marketers who like their articles syndicated.
Also, because of these positive results since the Google update, I actually subscribed to an article syndication service. I submit only quality articles and the results have been pretty good (well worth the time and cost). With this service I can backlink to many inner posts from many sites. Granted, the links aren't PR 3 to 7, but they are links and often enough to attract free traffic because of the long tail keywords.
