View Full Version : Got Yahoo Email? (or other "free" accounts)

My wife just called from her office to tell me her work address had been spammed by someone using my old Yahoo email address. Apparently they hijacked my contact list from there.

Between this and all the incoming spam there and at my site account, I'm glad I got a Gmail account finally. :(

It happens a lot. I would go in and change your password to the Yahoo email ASAP.

I know I am responding late to this topic but ....
gmail accounts have become the land of the spammers lately. they are free and easy to sign up for.
I am curious why people with their own hosting account/domain name do not create their own email accounts at will.

I have several domains and several hosting accounts. I create whatever emails I want whenever I need to.
For instance, if I want to sign up at a JV giveaway, I create a specific email account ( giveaway@mydomain.com )
for it. I set it up in my email software on my computer and check it with all the other email accounts every 10 minutes.
When I am finished with it I can just delete it from my server and all that junk mail goes off into
the ether. It is also a good way to determine where your spam is coming from etc.

Yeah you're right it really happens, I've experienced it too, now I am using Hotmail, but I do check my old yahoo email once in a while.
