Website Analytic 404 Error ..

hi there, i m new to seo and internet marketing world. i have a website and want to configure it appropriately, yesterday i was setting up my google webmaster account and there i found 404 Error. is it necessary to fix it for seo purpose?
how to resolve it kindly help.. any expert webmaster .

Yes you need to make corrections. A 404 error means there is nothing on the web page and a user isn't getting to it so the browser puts up a 404 error code page.

actually, a 404 error means that the page/file is not there. It could be because the link is misspelled or that the case is wrong.
( everything on the internet is case sensitive. A is not the same thing as a anywhere but on windows. )
So, depending on what you were doing that produces the 404, you may or may not need to worry about it.
