I'm really interested what you guys have on your "to read" list for 2012? I've just started Reading 'The 10X Rule' by Grant Cardone (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0470627603?ie=UTF8&tag=querysearch-20) some parts make me squirm LOL but it's changing my thinking BIG time!

for instance, I realized that what I thought were "failures" in the past were simply me miscalculating the efforts needed to make something happen. snip>>If you are not hitting your target goals, never reduce the target ~ instead, increase the actions you take toward it. Any target attacked with the right actions in the right amounts with persistence is attainable.

I'll be done with it soon and need some new suggestions, Thanks :-) Megan

Hi again Dee - I was just looking at Encouragement Changes Everything - by John Maxwell over on amazon - fell in love with it right away when I read the part at the beginning where he says, "To encourage people is to help them gain courage they might not otherwise possess -- courage to face the day, to do what's right, to take risks, to make a difference." I can tell this is my kind of book :-) thanks!! ~megan

Hi Megan.. We'll have our own little pow-wow here. LOL

Yeah, I think I discovered John Maxwell thru Joyce Meyer.. and he is just such an inspiring man, period. That particular book never gets old because it addresses a fundamental need of all of us; to be accepted.

Maxwell reminds me of one of my favorite cousins, Tim. He's such a happy man and he spreads happiness wherever he goes. One day I asked him about it and this is what he told me:

"My dad taught me that every time you have interaction with someone, you have an opportunity to lift them up or pull them down. When you part, do they feel better for having known you, or worse?"

Happy reading.. and Happy New Year to all of us! dee

I read topics like this with trepidation because I know that Amazon will be getting more of my money as a result... :p

I love reading and always have a book, magazine, or something around me. With that said I set a goal to intentionally read much more this year and am actually planning on calendaring this a little. I've put aside an hour a day for reading. The goal is to read a book a week. I am placing some structure in the calendar. I am planning my reading - and every 4th week I am leaving it open for whatever feels right. It may be a book that is just released; or that someone tells me about. I am seeking structure.

However, here is a small list of books I plan to read in 2012:

The Barefoot Executive - Carrie Wilkerson
Strengths Based Selling - Tony Rutigliano & Brian Brim
Tell to Win - Peter Guber
Great by Choice - Collins & Hansen
The Five Levels of Leadership - John Maxwell
Huge Profits with Affiliate Marketing - Connie Ragen Green
EntreLeadership - Dave Ramsey
With Purpose - Ken Dychtwald

These are just a few of the ones I am excited about.

I also plan on reading through the Bible this year for personal and spiritual growth.

I look forward to hearing more of what you're reading. It will make a huge difference in who you are and what you will become.

Cheering for you.

Hi Jeremy - awesome list! I started this because I needed some new ideas and inspirations - I want 2012 to be the year I break out of my rut -- you know what a "rut" is don't you? it's just a grave with the ends knocked out - LOL Thanks!, Megan

LOL but you do know you can support Barnes & Noble instead of Amazon right?

I still shop Amazon, just placed an order last night BUT I am now supporting B & N because they accepted me as an affiliate when Amazon dropped me due to IL state laws. I blame IL BUT am thankful for B & N.

I've also set myself a goal of a book a week for this year...did the same last year but fell short by about 20 books. What is it they say...shoot for the stars and if you only hit the moon you still will have got a long way ;)

Anywhhoooo...heres the first few on the list

Excuses Begone - Wayne Dyer
Dynamic Laws of Prosperity - Catherine Ponder
Blink - Malcolm Gladwell
Referral Engine - John Jantsch

They should see me through January...unless something else bright and shiny pops up and shouts "read me" first.

Crush It - Gary Vaynerchuck.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhqZ0RU95d4 is what got me interested in him.

I'm sure more as I go, but don't have the time for the library.

Hey Megan,

"The 10X Rule" looks pretty interesting - I never heard of it. Just put it in my wish list and downloaded the first chapter.

Right now, the only book I know I want is "Mastery" by George Leonard.
Other than that, for the first time, I'm planning to invest into business coaches/consultants and/or mentor as compared to just book and events. I'm almost tired of reading, but not seeing enough change. We'll see if this approach helps.

I'm a big reader and I use the public library for the books I read (with rare exception). Believe me I have bought plenty of books from Amazon, Borders and B&N not to mention used bookstores over the years but now I'm at a point in my life where I am into reading them once and then turning them back in for someone else to read and not having to own it.

However I'm not seeing Encouragement Changes Everything in my Library Catalog - may have to check a local used bookstore for that one.

Currently on my list to read (which is always expanding by the way):
Thank You Economy by Gary Vanerchuk
EntreLeadership by Dave Ramsey
Steve Jobs Bio
FRY CHRONICLES: AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY Fry, Stephen
Then again / Diane Keaton.
Giving 2.0 : transform your giving and our world / Laura Arrillaga-Andreessen.
The future of us/ Jay Asher & Carolyn Mackler. (It's a YA book about 2 teens that read their FB pages 15 years in the future - FB isn't even invented yet - and how their choices today impact their future - sounds interesting).

I don't really keep up what the hottest releases are, but I do keep a running list of books I've had recommended to me that I want to read. Currently the list includes:

The Accidental Creative, by Todd Henry
Real Time Marketing and PR, by David Scott
Getting Things Done, by David Allen
The Secret Life of Pronouns: What Our Words Say About Us, by James W. Pennebaker
Teaching as a Subversive Activity, by Neil Postman
The Wisdom of Crowds, by James Surowiecki
The Time Paradox, by Philip Zimbardo and John Boyd
How We Decide, by Jonah Lehrer
Principles of Applied Stupidity, by Justin Locke (after catching his excellent Google talk video (http://t.co/d1Ikgb96))
The Upside of Irrationality, by Dan Ariely. Dan Ariely's Predictably Irrational was the most influential book for me I read in '11 and I think all serious Internet marketers should read it and consider it's implications.
