Do you know of any websites where there are image use laws stated? I have a client who took newspaper logo images from Google images and it is my understanding that those are not just free to use, you must have permission.
I could be off base but I don't use any images except for my own or ones I have purchased from stock sites. I also don't believe it's OK to post any image from the web even if you do source it.
It's a bit confusing out there and I would like to give them a link to image use legalities.
Any help would be appreciated!

Here is the page from Google explaining their policy...

You can use images that have a suitable Creative Commons license plus of course images that are public domain. Don't ask me to explain. :-)
It's definitely not a good idea to use images you find in Google Images!

To further clarify, there is nothing inherently wrong with using images from Google Images as long as you do your due diligence and make sure the images you use come with the proper rights allowing you to use them.
Just grabbing an image you find and using it without checking first would of course be absolutely wrong.

Heres more clarification on the creative commons licenses. Scroll down and each attribution is explained.

Thank you all so much! I'm so glad I had them get 'written' permission to use the logos. I knew what I was telling them was right even though they were given approval. It's just good business to ask companies if you can use their image if you want to.
Need to keep reading so I can present this to other clients down the road.

If you can get to Advanced search in Google, there is a setting to only search for images with commercial licenses. Most of those are from Flickr and each will have the Creative Commons requirements (usually attribution).
