Welcome to the forum.

You can find a ton of great SEO info (http://www.clicknewz.com/category/seo-sem/) on Lynn's blog. And specific info on how to optimize your site (http://www.clicknewz.com/2759/10-optimize-your-site/).

Hope this helps!

The basics of onsite optimization are pretty simple. You want to have the page revolve around the keyword that you are trying to rank for. I actually build a new page for every keyword phrase that I am trying to rank for. For the sake of this post let's say that the keyword is "acne cream"

First you will absolutely want to have that keyword in the title tag, in the url, in an h1 tag and used throughout the content.

Only use one h1 tag per page

use your keyword in an h2 tag along with related words. You can have more than one h2 tag.

Use your keyword in the first paragraph of your content or even better in the first sentence.

You will want to bold your keyword phrase and italicize it once in the content.

Make sure that the website content is human readable first. It will need to be persuasive or you will probably not sell much. You want to make an effort that your keyword is used frequently throughout the content and use related words also such as pimples and zits.

link out from your page to an authority site that is related to your content. Wikipedia is perfect perfect for this.

That pretty much covers the onsite optimization. The offsite is what will get you ranked but you need the onsite so that Google knows what your page is about.

The big three are having your keyword in the title tag, url and an h1 tag.
