What exactly is PR? Is it the rank on a search engine results for a particular keyword. I know only that much about it. I've learned so much about IM but have apparently left this void.

HI there - No, PR is not where the website ranks on the search engine, it's a Google term. PR is a score that they give to a website based on a formula that they use to evaluate the worthiness of the website. That's the very basic explanation, but if you want to know the science behind it, you can check this out, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PageRank.
There's always been a controversy in the Internet Marketing community about the worthiness of PR itself. I mean does a hi PR REALLY mean more business? I don't know of any research on this subject but as a marketer, I don't pay much attention to PR, it can be manipulated so, the value of it seems diminished.
I hope that helps.

This is an older post on my blog, but it should help clear up some of the confusion:

Thank you Lynch Terry and eckweb for your information.
If google toolbar doesn't show you the exact pagerank then what are the other ways to determine it. Is there a site or something like that.

Nope. Google does not disclose actual PageRank. Only TBPR (toolbar pagerank) - which is not accurate. There's no way to know actual PageRank.
Honestly, I don't even pay attention to things like PageRank anymore - at all.
