Hey,

I'm kind of new here. My mother has been a member of your forum for a long time though. I'm not sure what her username is off the top of my head lol but she speaks highly of you all.

I'm new to the whole affiliate site scene and such so I'm hoping that I can find guidance and advice. :)

Tristen

Welcome Tristen! Great to have you here.

Who is your mom? Nice to hear she thinks highly of this community.

Thank you! :)

I'm not 100% sure how this all works.

I actually have a site that is mostly set up but I don't want to launch it till I get some advice and such.

Well, I know how to build a website more or less, I'm no pro but I have the basic skills.

But, I have absolutely no idea how to get people to come to the site or how to get people to click my affiliate links.

I have my site pretty much done except a final check for grammar errors and of course any changes and additions you guys suggest :).

Here is my URL:
http://testsite85.hostoi.com/

That's not the URL I'll be using when I actually launch the site, it's just for testing.

Hope you like it! :)

Well, I guess what I need first is for someone with some more experience in these things to look at my site and tell me what I need to change to make it successful.

I'm really hoping I can make it work because when I started learning webdesign and scripting my sister in law basically told me I was wasting my time and implied that I wouldn't make any money with it lol. I wanna prove her wrong.

Anyway, I'm not sure how to post my site. It seems when I put a link in my reply it doesn't come up lol.

EDIT: Trying again, here is the test URL:

Hi Tristen,

I am heading off for lunch, so will give your site a look on my next visit.

But I wanted to share this link with you as a starter: http://www.clicknewz.com/3229/free-targeted-web-traffic/

Wow, that's a really nice looking site. My only criticism (well, not really) is that you didn't use WordPress. But I'm a little biased there. :)

I'm not a gamer (too addicting!), so I'm not your market, but I think you're off to a great start with this one. Well done!

Now tell me - did you code that by hand or did you use a site builder of some sort. I can't see any reference in the source code, so I'm curious. :)

I coded it by hand in Aptana Studio 3.

I'm a web design/scripting student so I don't like using prebuilt stuff, I like doing it myself because I like to know that I did it all with my own hands.

Kind of like the difference between making a cake out of a box and making one from scratch. :)

The only reason I would use wordpress is if it offers some benefit other than "ease of building" because I enjoy building my sites so it doesn't bother me to code it. But, I'm a complete newb to this scene so I don't know lol.

And thank you for the compliments on the site! :)

Real post, meaning what? You're welcome to continue the discussion here. ;-)

I meant a thread that isn't an "introduction" lol. No matter either way, don't mind me lol.

Would you like me to change the Title of this thread? :)

lol its not a big deal, just didnt know if it would confuse people or something not knowing there is an actual discussion in here and not just a "hello".

No biggy, you already know it's here. What else could I need? :P

I hope you like my website. Of the ones I've made its probably one of the ones I'm most happy with. :)

I've also been looking at your elite forum thingy.

It sounds kind of like something I could benefit from cause I work on projects better when I have someone to answer too lol.

If I can get a site or two making some money I might have to join up. :)

As for the elite forum, the rate will be going up (http://www.clicknewz.com/3393/serious-about-making-money/) this Tuesday, May 8th so I would highly recommend you go ahead and join now.

I would stick with and focus on one website in the beginning.

And if you want to start a new thread for input on your site, that's totally fine. You might want to join the elite forum and then there is a special section in there where Lynn and all of the members look at and review websites.

I wish I could join now but unfortunatly moths are flying out of my wallet and it just wont be possible to join before the price increase.
