What is the purpose of these sites?

Hi, I have a Google alert for one of my websites. About once a week a get a new alert from google with a link to these sites:

My alert is for "blog made simple" which is my domain. I have found links with similiar content from blogpromotionxxx where xxx is a list of hundreds of cities. Are these sites something that is used to help in SEO?

No, they are spam sites and it doesn't help your SEO at all. It could potentially be hurting it but it might be hard to get them to remove your links if they have them there. But it might just be your alert words somewhere on their site.

I removed the links because we don't want links pointing to them:)

Thanks that is what I figured. I didnt know for sure. Not a problem that you re-moved the links, I would have not posted had I known.
