View Full Version : Writing posts in Word them copying to blog

I find it so hard to write my posts in WP probably because I use so many photos. I know Lynn has recommended using a program that doesn't add formatting codes (like Notepad), but I find that hard to use also as the typed line runs off the screen. Is there something I'm missing? I tend to procrastinate writing posts for this reason (as if I need any reason to procrastinate), but it would be great if I could easily write my posts and insert my photos quickly like I can in Word. Any suggestions?

Hi Tanya,

You should write them directly in WordPress and save them as drafts there. You can easily add images and HTML such as bold, italics, etc and it works very similar to Word. You said you find it hard to write your posts in WordPress - what is it that makes it difficult for you?

You might like to use Windows Live Writer. A lot of bloggers who are heavy on images use it. I think I'll be trying it myself this year. It's supposed to be really awesome.

Lynn, I have the latest WP upgrade. When I'm in the expanded view, the photo loads at the beginning of the post (not where I wanted to insert), then I can't move it down to where it should go as it duplicates the photo. I like to put photos side by side sometimes, and I note that one should be on the left and one on the right and sometimes there is a space and I need to go into the text version and make changes to the code - that's one positive because I'm learning a little about code! In the regular view, I still have problems with photos and can only load one at a time. Very frustrating. I feel like I'm spending twice as much time just writing a post.

Angie, I'll take a look at Live Writer and see if that helps. Hopefully, there's a free version so I can try it out.

Thanks all!

The photo will insert where you have your cursor. I use the HTML tab, not the Visual Editor, and I just place my cursor where I want my image - then add it. If I want two side by side, I use "none" for alignment then put a space and insert the next photo. As long as they aren't too wide side by side they will appear that way in my post.

Hey Lynn! Thanks for this gem of a tip - inserting 2 images side by side. I didn't know you could do this.

Am off to try it -

Caroline :)
