HOw does one choose a topic for a niche blog that you won't get tired of writing about or run out of ideas for. I've been wanting to do this for years, but I'm afraid I'll run out of ideas. HELP!

For me it was two things I was passionate about and that I would be doing for the rest of my life. That would be my weight loss/fitness journey & travel. Of course I have other niche sites like gifts, parties and would love to build out my cat sites this year.

If you are thinking of going all in with a blog and social media, I would choose something that is part of your every day life. If it's just a niche site you're looking to do, then it can really be anything.

Read this blog post from Lynn, it should help on how to choose a niche (http://www.clicknewz.com/2281/how-to-choose-a-niche/).

You say, "if it's a niche site it can really be anything." What's the difference in doing something with a blog and social media and doing a niche site?

My passion is writing devotionals but I'm not sure that's not a niche that isn't already saturated or one that would really bring profit. ??

If that's what you enjoy, what about a site where you give some inspiration for the day, perhaps tell a story about how someone else was inspired in a particular circumstance, but promote affiliate related products. I think lots of people buy devotionals, Bibles, study books, Bible DVDs, etc. And there's all kinds of Christian stories, [even series...more $ :)]You'd want to do some keyword research to be sure but those are my thoughts.

IS a niche site something that you would or wouldn't promote on Social media. I think I'm trying to determine the difference.

I can see why you're confused. :)

My understanding is that you can promote anything on Social Media. But if it's something you really like, it's a lot easier to blog and do social media. I think it's a lot easier over-all as you won't get bored talking about it.

Did you read Lynn's post that Angie recommended about choosing a niche? http://www.clicknewz.com/2281/how-to-choose-a-niche/ That should make things a lot clearer for you.

Cheers
Rhonda

It really depends, but you could promote anything on social media.

For me, my life revolves around losing weight/living healthy and travel so those two niches I'm deep into social media. However my other sites I wouldn't have an interest in going in so deep, I just want to make money as an affiliate with those.

My 1st thought for you would be to have a site like Rhonda mentioned, you could sell Bibles, devotionals, journals, your own products, etc. A section for adults, kids......would that be something that would interest you?

I am actually thinking about relaunching a ministry blog that I laid aside since 2009. http://beautybydesignonline.com (http://beautybydesignonline.com) it is targeted to teen and tween girls and their moms. What do you think?

I think you should go for it! Start blogging again (you can even take dates off posts if you want) and just dive in like you never stopped.

That is the perfect blog to make affiliate sales in addition to your own product sales, etc. There is so much you could do (special mom/daughter jewelry, clothing, Bibles, the possibilities are endless).

Great that was my thoughts too. I plan to get a new header as my current one is a bit dated.

I think that's a great looking site you've got there, adavant, header and all. It looks like you've got about everything in place. I could probably stand to do some relaunching myself, come to think of it. Sometimes after getting a bit of distance from a project, it's easier to see it in a new perspective.
