Merchant Accounts and paypal

I currently only offer paypal as a payment method on my sites.

Any thoughts on this being a factor in generating less sales. Is it best to have a merchant account as well as paypal?

Any suggestions for the cheapest merchant account. I used Authorize.net and it was costing like 50.00 per month, that seems a bit high to me.

Look into Google Checkout. You might split test this to see if it results in more sales vs PayPal for your product line.
