First of all, I’m really excited to be here. I’ve been following Lynn since I first got online way back around 2002/03 (don’t exactly remember).
I have been “tinkering” online for a long time…
My story kind of goes like this.
I worked in the corporate world until I was about 28 years old. I was a System Administrator/Inventory Analyst for a Steel Service Center (lots of stress for a growing company very long hours). At that point I decided that’s not where I wanted to be. Left my job, started following in the path of my mother and my sister and began a career as a foster parent in 1998. Although I have no biological children, my kids are my family even now to this day.
I discovered in about 2002 that one of my boys had a very rare genetic disease that there is no cure for. I started “tinkering” online more as an outlet for me. My son was regressing and I needed to be home with him all the time (at times I didn’t leave my house for more than 8 hours in a one month period). Teaching myself how to blog and build basic websites was a way for me to stay sane.
During this time, I realized that being online, learning new things AND helping others was my passion. I am happiest when I am working online. I am an introvert AND very shy, so working behind a computer screen suites me great
In about 2008, we discovered his older brother had the same disease and started the same down the same path of deterioration. My little “Boo” continued to regress and passes away in October 2010 at the age of 13. My older son is still going through his journey. He is now20 and though still very connected to me is living in a staffed house more able to help him with his needs.
I’ve worked with numerous other children in my home over the years. Currently I am working with a group of 3 siblings. Only the 2 girls are still in my home. But the placement is coming to a natural end in the next few months. At which point I have decided it is time for me to retire from fostering and continue with my passion. And find out what my other passions and interest are.
This is a HUGE year of change for me. Part of my problem is that I’ve given all of myself to my kids so I’m really starting out and having to even learn what my interests are (my interests that don’t involve kids) lol.
I have been working the e-commerce side for the last couple of years, and have found it to bring in a decent income.
I have had a .com for several years and it has been wiped out a few times. I am trying to rebuild it as this is the platform where I can get to what I am passionate about and that is finding ways to help others.
So my goals are:
• Build my blog http://athomewithheather.com , gain a following of people that I am able to provide value to.
• Expand my ecommerce business to where I am a 6 figure earner
• Work on ME! (Health, Interests, Hobbies, FUN STUFF)
It is very exciting/scary at the same time because for the first time in forever I want to be able to rely 100% on the income I generate from my online income streams.
I am really looking forward to this mastermind group and getting to know you all. I am open to any suggestions and would love to learn from the wealth of knowledge that I’m sure is in this group.
