See, even that is a lesson that most others do not give. There is so much "one size fits all," "just follow my plan," stuff out there. I agree with Tom, it is hard to know how to proceed for us newbies.
I want to build something that is long lasting and is of benefit to others. I also want something that gives me a decent income. I don't have the resources or the desire to make major mistakes like getting Google slapped and having my site buried. That's why I like this site, but even here it's hard to tell who knows what they are talking about and who is trying to puff their own ego and claim more than they are.
Thanks Tom for getting this thread going. I love the straight talk!

I realized that I might be a little insulting to folks on this forum. I don't mean to be when I say that it's hard to know who to trust, even here. It's just that after having been burned a couple of times, I begin to put up my skeptic shield pretty fast.

No worries - this is one place where you can 'talk straight' ;)
There is no one-size-fits-all plan. Period.
Another lesson to be culled out of this thread - you can't study or absorb everything. Or at least I can't. I have to stay focused on my own business and there are only so many hours in a day.
I would LOVE to be able to spend an entire month studying the 30-day challenge inside and out - for more than one reason. Unfortunately I was traveling twice in August and teaching at a workshop, so it just wasn't possible.
Do you research - but don't get stuck in the learning phase. Pick something and take action on it. Follow your gut feeling, ask around, figure out who's who for yourself, but keep moving forward...
And if you have a question about someone on THIS forum or something that was said, even me, feel free to ask me. You can private message me if you prefer.

Curiosity crawled into my head last night and I had to go sign up for the free 11 day trial of Traffic Bug to see what it was all about.
I haven't watched all the training videos, but as far as the "bookmarking" goes it all seems to go to a rotated set of main accounts, not your own personal account. However, this is a setting to add your personal account login details if you want to.
This seems like a smart idea since a lot of those places don't like you promoting yoruself. But, My concern there would be what happens if just a small handful of links, say 3, that are of a "distasteful quality" come through and get that social bookmarking account banned, blocked, and deleted. Then your links go with it, so was it really worth it?
