Blog commenting techniques - Help from experienced marketeer please

Hello!

I have been told that blog commenting is an effective SEO technique.

Currently I have a sale page with 3 products. For example purposes I will call my category: vintage cars and my products v1, v2, v3.

Although I believe that I should use both my caterogy and products, so far I am always using my category keyword (vintage cars) as I have yet to find blogs which allow links in the comment box. I am slightly worried that the link building might not look natural to google.

As the weeks go by, how do you keep track of the blogs that you have already commented?

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.:)

I use Scrapebox a lot.

One of the features of Scrapebox is a link checker. I think they also offer just the link checker by itself for free.

Anyhow, I keep all the URL's of blogs I have commented on. I give it about 4-5 days (some comments are held for moderation) and then run the URL's through the link checker to see which sites I have obtained links from. Then I export those sites from the link checker into a Excel file.

I only keep a list of sites where I have actual links from. I don't bother keeping a list of the others.

I'll usually take those sites from the Excel file and break it up into groups of 50-75 links. Those get mashed into an RSS feed. Then the feed gets submitted to RSS aggregators. I'll also socially bookmark the feeds. No point in doing all the work to get links if the search engines don't find them.


And as far as the link building not looking "natural" to Google... I don't buy into that very much. Is the whole act of link building really natural anyhow? Let's be honest, the only "natural" link building process is to hope that people find your site and link to it. Any building of links you do yourself, really is not all that natural.

Being a newbie I can't quite follow the RSS feed part. Do you submit every single link to an RSS feed?

There are sites like HostmyRSS.com where you can create an RSS feed using just URL's.

I'll throw anywhere from 25 to 90 into one RSS feed. I'll often mix up backlinks that I have created for different sites too. Doesn't matter to me one bit if they are unrelated. I just want to help the spiders find them.

Or just go to Yahoo! and type "linkdomain:yourdomainhere.com" for a list of backlinks Yahoo is willing to share...

Nice options to have bulk of information on sites and their backlinking. I really appreciate your post, man!

I have found that Blog Carnival works great. It is a location where you can submit your permalink and blog owner post your post on their blog. Although not directly related to blog comments this is a GREAT way to get visibility.

I visited Scrapebox sales page which said something like "it's now possible to comment thousands of blogs in minutes". The spam comments I used to get probably originated from programs like Scrapebox (?), so that might be why it's blocked.

There are numerous ways to get backlinks to your sites, blog commenting is not the only one.

Currently I just copy the blog comment URL into a Google Docs spreadsheet.
I do this on about 75% of the comments.

Great idea to submit comment URL to RSS feed, I have not done that yet, but have heard it is a good idea.
