Is there a plugin in wordpress to change the menu bar from Pages to Posts? I know some themes allow you to do this.
One suggestion ...
Get the "Exclude Pages" from navigation plugin and create pages instead of posts when you have something to post. I believe there are plugins that will allow you to treat a page as a post, so you can activate that on the page when needed.
The exclude pages plugin allows you to control whether a page is included in the menu or not.
Thanks Kirkward,
That should help, do you know the names of any of those plugins that allow you to treat a page as a post? I have been searching for one, but it must be under different words.
I don't think you'll find a plugin of that type because linking to posts on a navigation bar is a theme design trait. If you look around, there are themes that feature settings allowing you to choose either pages or categories for navbar display.
I don't really care for the results that most themes give you when you click to a category and I've made better use of pages for a similar purpose. I set up special main pages for each category-- with an intro and link index-- and let links to those pages show on the navbar. This allows the visitor to enter a sort of subsite dedicated to that category and makes category navigation easier.
I do use the Exclude Pages plugin to make sure other pages (such as the About page) don't show on the navbar. I also like the AZIndex plugin, which allows me to not only make an easy index page for the whole site, but indexes for the individual categories.

Maybe you could edit the menu code of your theme and replace the part where it lists pages with the wp_list_categories function with a new instance for each category and have the dropdown show the posts for each category?
It just occurred to me (as I was setting up a theme) that one of my favorite free themes, Inove, lets you choose to show either pages or categories on the navbar. If you haven't tried Inove, I suggest it. It's a good solid performer, easy get looking nice quickly and has some really useful special settings.

I think atahualpa allows you to do this too. I know that suffusion does; however, you can not use pages for the display on the magazine template.
