If your real interest is learning about social networking, ask questions here, do google search for "Social Networking"(yes, use the quotes it causes a more specific search), get a twitter account or facebook or friend feed and dive in. You will get out of it what you put into it.

Not sure what sort of tech info you are after but I belong to a site called Social Webmasters www.socialwebmasters.com because I own a couple of PHPFox licenses for social network sites and I find them to be an awesome resource of information.
