This would depend on how your host has the server setup. But on a typical Apache server, the path would look something like this:
/home/your-username/your-download-location
So on a real site...
I sometimes use the File Manager in cPanel. But usually use Smart FTP, FireFTP and have been known to use Filezilla if I have to.
Have you tried calling them? I had an issue with setting up an AR in 1shoppingcart once and a tech was able to help me over the phone in just a few minutes.
I wouldn't laugh just yet. They may very well have a legal leg to stand on, and if they have the funds to persue legal action, this could hurt you worse than moving the site.
