    Hi Dave,

There is some good free training at: http://www.thirtydaychallenge.com

You'll need to set up your own website or blog in order to do well at affiliate marketing. The 30 day challenge is a good starting point, and then you can ask any questions you have here as well.

Your service based business is a perfect platform for affiliate marketing. Consider all of the other tools & services your clients need: hosting, mailing list manager, paypal accounts, etc. I would definitely provide a resource page on your site, and include a PDF copy of that resource list as a service to your clients along with their designs.

Hi Excited-Dave. Always nice to meet someone that is excited about things.

I am relative newbie when it comes to SEO stuff like getting traffic but your niche of MLM stuff is insanely competitive. Every MLM member is vying for position one in Google and there are only so many spots at the top of Google for any search phrase connected with MLM (or any derivative connected to it).

Have you done any keyword research? Before you even set up your site? Very important.

You are probably going to have to focus on non-search engine traffic to get...well...traffic since it is unlikely that you will achieve a high ranking in the ultra competitive niche of MLM. It's possible I guess but very unlikely especially if you are just starting out.

What I say above might not be the case if you had chosen to start out in a much less competitive niche.

Just my two cents worth. Take it for what it's worth.

I have always found free teleseminars and free reports on hot topics do generate a lot of traffic and a major surge in opt ins. See my sig file for an example.

Most of my traffic at this point in time comes from forum signatures, blogs that allow me to indicate a web site in comments, forum profiles where I am allowed to indicate a home page, and other such social stuff.

I tried article marketing a while back and it was a total dud compared to what is working for me now.

Of course writing great content really helps too. I am getting some searches from off the search engines using phrases I would have never thought of.

Not that I have unleashed a log jam of traffic and am absolutely getting flooded . Not at all. My traffic is still miniscule but you know something?

I really don't care. Not at this point. I couldn't handle the additional traffic to my site right now even if I had it. I am so busy right now as it is that I can't even hardly handle what I got going on (I have one and possible two Adsense web site creation partnerships/joint ventures, client PHP programming, my own joint venture thing I am developing to name some of what I am involved in). If someone came by today and said I want you to create a web site for me and I will pay you $500 for it I honestly don't think I could take it on.

So what difference does it make for me to get oodles of traffic right now. I can't handle it.

In another month or so when things settle down a bit I should be able to handle more but not right now.

But...my point is that these social traffic generating methods have given me as much traffic as I want at the present time. Google or no Google.

Like someone else said...it's a great way to get focused traffic. If one is able to get oodles of traffic but it's unfocused it won't mean a thing compared to focused, interested traffic which is 1/10th as much.

Unless one could figure out a way to monetize that extra traffic but in my case I don't even have enough time in my day to figure out how to monetize the extra traffic even if I had it LOL.

    Carlos,

I think you should start a new thread and let's get you on a good track. Having no expendable cash and no time to make any at the same time is not a good problem to have. We should brainstorm some solutions!

Thanks very much for your gracious offer Lynn. I have no problem starting a new thread on just me and what I could be doing differently. For sure not.

Though I would feel a bit...hmm...ackward in that I don't usually have anyone that takes such interest in my success.

I guess it can't hurt to start a new thread and see what input I get here. I'll do that in a few minutes.
