Definitely ask for techy questions. I have had my fair share that is for sure but everyone here is so helpful.

As for XSitePro, I use that software and it has a learning curve too. I love it but depending on your objective you might not even need the software. I'll be happy to answer any questions on XSitePro though if you have any.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I had an early doctor's appt. this morning and had to go fasting. One appt. turned into two and I did not get home until 4 PM - still with no food! As a consequence I've been sort of zombie-like and unable to focus too well.

I just read JKGourmet's post and I am suffering from the same lack of knowledge - like him/her html, php, css, MySql, etc. mean nothing to me! And, on WP what about all those things in the sidebar - what do they mean, and what about backing up my database - what is that and how is it done? How do you learn this kind of stuff?

Continuing on with my rant - I've read and learned a lot about marketing, keyword research, etc., but the tech stuff is so over my head, and I don't know where to go to learn it.

Thanks Angie - I've been intrigued by XSite Pro for a long time and i wonder what kind of tech issues/learning you encountered? My blog is intended to be for affiliate marketing of products. I'm thinking that maybe what Lynn talked about with JKGourmet of having an ecommerce-looking site with blog is what I need.

There is a lot to learn with WordPress - no doubt, but once you learn it, using WP is actually not difficult.

There are plugins that will backup your database for you. I do have a blogging course that I wrote to teach beginners how to setup and use WordPress http://beginningblogger.com is where you can find more info on the course.

Thanks for that wordpress theme. If I was a raw beginner with Wordpress that would have proved a real struggle as the theme is not easy to work with.

I guess that is where they get the sale to the paid version as I would expect the editor they give you makes things a lot easier.

I notice the debate over xsite pro and wordpress. I have to admit that even though the big push is getting a wordpress blog up and the juicy search engine fodder for God Google. Xsitepro is a dream to use and if you read SEO material, a good site with lots of keyword relevent pages is a good model to go with.

Its funny I have spent a bit of time trying to get a solid business going but have only made a handful of change, but putting a site together is relatively easy, its all the other aspects of the business, the product, traffic, sales conversion, that seems to be the sticking point.

Lack of knowledge? Oh yea I totally understand but you learn as you go. I never imagined I would know what I know now. It takes time so don't get overwhelmed with it all. Step by step and we'll help you out.

You could do a search on all those terms but really you will learn them as you go. When you hear backing up a database, it usually means in Wordpress, the blogging platform's back 'office' there is a way to back up your blog to keep everything on your computer just in case anything were to happen to your blog files, etc.

As for learning marketing, keyword research/SEO (search engine optimization), etc. the best place to start is Lynn's blog http://www.clicknewz.com and use the search function for those terms when you are ready to learn each aspect of Internet marketing. And you'll learn it right here on the forum too!

As for XSitePro, I have not encountered many tech issues that upgrades to the software haven't solved. We really do like the software and it's really not that hard but there is a lot of stuff within the software that is cool but I'm still finding and learning about it all and I have had it for years. Oh and back to learning Wordpress, I was crazy lost in the beginning but as you play with it and just use it, it becomes much easier. I still get stuck, like right now I can't add images and can't figure out why blah but I know someone out there is going to help me get to the bottom of that
