Default Basic Question about Social Bookmarking

I'm just starting to get on the bandwagon with social media (better late than never I guess) and I wondered if it was ok if I submitted my own articles to digg, stumble, every time I post one?

I read this article by Darren Rowse (http://www.problogger.net/archives/2...than-your-mom/) and in #6 he alludes to the fact that it may be ok, but not that effective since they might eventually figure out that it's me.

    Any thoughts?

    Brad

BTW - this is my first post! Woot!

    Welcome Brad

My advice is to use each social media service as it was intended to be used.

Here is a good starting point:
How to use Social Media... Successfully

When it comes to Social Bookmarking, I suggest that you only bookmark your pillar posts or your best content. Not every piece of content is bookmark-worthy. Also, for every post of your own that you bookmark... bookmark 8-10 other posts or pieces of content that are NOT yours.

So let's say your topic is aquariums. You write a great blog post. You bookmark it. You should do a search on Google (or in your feedreader) to find other great posts on that topic and bookmark those as well. That way your bookmark account is the great topical resource that it should be. Not just a link farm to your own properties.

StumbleUpon will actually ban your account for stumbling and promoting yourself or a business, so that's something to be careful of.
